According to the rules for the 2018/19 CL

So top four in the league are straight through to the group stages plus the Europa league winner if that was an English team

Isn't there something slightly different if, let's say, we go on a horrendous run and finish 5th, Arsenal finish 6th, and we both win European competitions?

I'm sure in that scenario, the 4th placed team gets Europa League instead of Champions League football?

Yes. That is the only scenario 4th doesn't qualify

I do think it is important to finish higher than 4th because it would show improvement. Yes it's been a good season but we still went out of domestic cups too early. A deep run into CL and a 2nd or 3rd place would show improvement.

I think we are showing some clear improvement though, we are looking good for a top 4 finish and quarter finals of the CL. I'd have snapped your hands off. That's with all the hooplah surrounding VVD and Coutinho as well. Get Keita in and whoever, and we should hit the ground running next season.

I don't think we will finish any lower than 4th. Can't see Chelsea making up the points.

Yeah no chance we dont get it now, Chelsea could win 8 out of 8 and still wouldn't finish above us if we beat the 5 **** teams we have left to play. Not gonna happen.

They do, but some of those games in hand are against each other so some of those around us in the table with games in hand over us have to drop points regardless.

So in terms of my hopes for the season the biggest thing was to consolidate top 4 and looks like we’ve done that. Massive financially and shows in coming players that we are building something for the future.

Klopp, becoming a top 4 club, Naby coming in.....looks good for the future.
