6 wins gives us 78 points. Chelsea would need 8 wins and 1 draw to match us and overcome our 11 GD advantage.

Given the form and mood around the two clubs, looks nailed on. Nice to be in our hands for once.

Still we drop points to United and 1 unexpected result and its back to every weekend counts.

          We have United/Chelsea away.
          Spurs have Chelsea, City.
          Chelsea have Spurs, us.
          United have us, City, Arsenal

A draw between Chelsea and Spurs would be a great result for us.

Spurs win wouldn't be terrible. Keeps Chelsea 7 behind meaning they need 3 games to catch us. 5 wins and a draw would then be enough for us to guarantee 4th.

Assuming we all keep winning, a draw for those two would see us 9 points ahead of them and four ahead of Spurs which means we could absorb a defeat before Spurs catch us.

I don't know how I feel about this.

Head says we want Tottenham to beat Chelsea as there is no difference between 4th and 2nd, and a Spurs victory secures our position in the 4. Heart says we should be trying to get as high on the table as possible.

Neither result changes our fortunes but a draw keeps both at bay so we can look up more comfortably.

I want Chelsea to beat Spurs, barely needs thinking about. We need to aim up not look at the drop to 5th.

Spurs' next three league games are all away (Bournemouth, Swansea, Chelsea), then they've got City at home.

Altho, the difference between finishing 2nd and finishing 4th is purely prize money, the reward at the end is an automatic place in the CL, which given City's dominance this year is all we are fighting for.

So Spurs to beat Chelsea is the ideal result, as it further helps to cement CL qualification. Finishing 2nd, finishing 3rd, finishing 4th, it's all a muchness. The crucial thing is qualifying for the big one.

Need to be aiming for as high a finishing position as we can get.

Would much sooner see Spurs drop some points and get themselves caught up in a battle for 4th, than see them keep winning and be in a position to push us down the table.

Disagree. I think that sort of attitude makes for teams who are unlikely to win competitive leagues. We need to be bloody minded about raising the bar, we should be looking to position ourselves as the favourites to usurp City next season by finishing strongly in the league, getting second place, and embedding the sort of gritty must win mentality that league success demands.
