His positioning and fundementals are just so so good, that he makes saves look routine and I think people then think because he is not having to fling himself around like a keeper with a lesser positioning would do, that he is somehow not world class.

Great keepers make almost everything they do look ordinary.

Good keepers on the other hand make more eye catching because they cannot read the game well enough to reduce the amount of last ditch saves needed.

Is a bit like Alonso's comment years ago about how having to make lots of tackles was not a good quality and it was something done when you were unable to read the game well enough to get the ball through an interception or when you did not have the game intelligence to keep it.

Can think of a few keepers that can match Ali in one aspect or another of goalkeeping, but cannot think of one that is as good in every department as him.

Think an arguement could be made for him to be the best to have ever played in the PL if he continues as he is going. Guys like Peter Schmeichel were brilliant world class goalkeepers but Ali has the shot stopping, bravery, anticipation and reading of the game that Schmeichel had but also has the sort of pace, ball playing and sweeping ability that Schmeichel did not have to the same level.

There was a bit yesterday were the attacker was through on goal (offside though obviously) and for about 5 yards Alisson just blocked the goal, like a windmill sliding across the grass. It was a thing of beauty.

Also feels like a pub quiz question which player was shown 2 red cards in the same game but never sent off

****ing VAR screwing us over again, he does his best to get sent off and suspended so he could miss international fixtures and VAR interferes

Anyway, he wasn’t sent off, it was downgraded to a yellow by VAR. Think it was an evening up job by the ref with Ecuador’s keeper having been sent off after 15 mins.
