The two early VAR calls I thought were both wrong, having seen them again this morning these are my thoughts:

The goal - I think that this is 50-50, is there contact on Alisson? Yes - but that doesn't necessaily make it a foul. The big question is does the contact stop Alisson from clearing the ball? Having seen it again I am not sure that the answer to this is yes, which I think is where the problem for VAR is. There is contact on Alisson's right arm but I am not sure that without that contact to the arm he is able to clear the ball. I think that the fact that his left arm gets contact on the ball undermines the argument that he could clear it with his right, as the contact doesn't cause his body to turn. I think the degree of uncertainty as to whether he could have cleared it is why the goal was allowed to stand. But as it is IMO a subjective call, I think that the ref should be called over to the monitor and make the decision himself.

The Cresswell one is a shocker, I thought it was a red when I first saw it, and the more I see it the worse it gets. I have absolutely no idea how VAR doesn't see that as a red, OK he gets the top of the ball bounces off it over the ball into Henderson's right leg, meanwhile his othe leg goes around Henderson's left leg into the back of his knee it's as clear a red as you are likely to see. Shocking decision.

I thought it was a definite foul myself. Normally goalkeepers get more protection in those situations. I think he should have been stronger even with the foul. He also should have done better with the one that went under him. But he has been magnificent lately. Every one can have a mare now and again

Yeah it was definitely a foul, and it was a huge call that had a massive impact on the game. Early goal for them, fans going mental. Made our job so much harder.

Still though I felt our mentality at times yesterday was slightly lacking. I'm not ruling us out of winning the title yet, because I feel both Chelsea and City have their flaws too, but it's games like that you need to get something out of it you want to win it.

He's clearly impeded him, it's a ridiculous decision.

Yeah first goal was a clear foul. On some camera angles it was clear an obvious. Not for Stuart Attwell, much like the Cresswell challenge. The premier league has become an entertainment show now, not a premier league football competition.

Confirmation bias. Refs know west ham have a tag as a physical team so they let more of the physical stuff go. Same for Burnley etc. It's wrong, but it happens.

He's not the first foreign keeper to be targeted at set pieces and he won't be the last. He was too preoccupied with the opponents rather than concentrating on the ball. Weak as piss today. But he's been on top form this year despite the number of goals we're conceding. Today was on him but the teams defending isn't good enough overall.

I remember he was near on invincible at one on ones and his distribution was decent but not Alisson level. And Alisson's beard is god like.

I think having vvd back in front of him is boosting his figures as the better drilled defence means less is getting through to the keeper, or only from poor angles.
