Best and tidy isn't enough at this level. Today and vs Ajax he didn't even look neat and tidy, he looked out of his depth.

Nice show from the backup. Shaq looks on it too. Delighted for Nat Philips mom. Just hope the football stops being so grim soon, lack of crowds is killing it.

        Vital win.

Can't fault the effort from start to finish, just lack of quality at times.

But we kept going and in Jota we have real quality. Shaq important too.

Champions performance that today. Kept our patience, passed the ball around, then upped the tempo the last 20 minutes and West Ham couldn't live with us. Helped tough by Jota and Shaq, who've been superb in the 20 mins or so they've been on the pitch. Hope Shaq can stay fit this season, he can and he is a match winner when he's on form and gives us something different.

Hats off to Nat Phillips as well today. Was a rock in defence.
          Are we winning?

He's 19. Get off his back. Patience is the key. Jones will be alright.

agree, but put a thiago & in form front three around him & there is a player there. The responsibility of being the attacking threat in a hendo, gini three is unfair on him.

Another good experience for him today.

It is ****ing grim and also the way teams setup against us is ****ing grim too.

With people like Jones you have to give them a bit of time. If the rest of the players around him are playing really well and he's not then he needs to improve, if they're not playing well then you need to look at other things as well - it might be more systemic.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we get a lot of goals later in the game - the way we play teams drains them, and if we make a couple of decent quality subs at that point it's not surprising it changes the game. I'd be interested in bringing Bobby on at at 70 odd minute mark and see how he does then, and whether people like Jota make the same impact when they start games.

Jones will get few mins here and there. Looks a level above him at the moment but he has time on his side.

                      Huge win.

We didn't play great but the ref was blowing for soft things against us and letting the same contact go the other way. ****e again!

That header from Phillips at the end was massive, he played well but I think he suited playing against West Ham more than anything, good decision from Klopp considering he's been nowhere near the first XI.

Great to see Shaqiri and Jota come on and impact the game. Jota in particular has been invaluable lately! Minamino needs to take his next chance because there are plenty ahead of him now.

I thought we were absolutely brilliant in the last 20 minutes. Upped the tempo and completely killed the game. Should have been 3-1 really. I think it's the tactic, keep the ball, be patient and don't exert ourselves too much to conserve energy and tire the opposition team chasing the ball.

Let's get Shaqiri and Jota starting the next one. Thought the overall performance was much better in the second half, first time this season we've seen some drive from Wijnaldum. Hopefully he can build on this because he hasn't been great.

Despite the improvement we still had a bit of luck in that 2nd half - Robertson's block with his back turned Given the injuries and stuttering performances our results have been fantastic this season in all competitions. Pretty happy with the start to the season. Looking forward to the next month despite some really tricky fixtures.

Good outing from Phillips too, I know he's played in Germany, but pretty good for your first outing in top flight football although being close to 24 would help with that, he must have a ton of non-competitive football and training under his belt.

Think he'll be good in the long run, completely normal for a young player in that position.

I think disallowing the goal for the mane foul was fair enough, looking at the replays.
