As much as I have loved what this team has achieved I do think Jurgen has a rebuild job on his hands.

It has started though - Konate, Elliot, Carvalho, Jota, Diaz, Nunez, Ramsey all bought - Trent, Gomez, Jones all young. We’ve just neglected midfield a bitOriginally posted by Jas View PostAs much as I have loved what this team has achieved I do think Jurgen has a rebuild job on his hands.

Aye, the width should be provided by Trent and Robbo making the overlapping runs, but that isn't happening as much, with TAA coming inside more , leaving Salah out wide and the link between Diaz and Robbo still needing a little work.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIt's been noted elsewhere but I don't understand why Diaz and Salah are both so wide, utterly miles apart so no chance of linking up. What happened to inverted wide forwards making darting runs inside, filling spaces left by Firmino? Last night we had Firmino holding hands with Henderson, and Diaz and Salah an entire width of the pitch apart. I don't get it.
Still, only 3 games in and in the first 2 of them, we created chances galore. The United game, it almost feels like we felt we just had to turn up and we would win, so when they came flying out the box, we looked flummoxed. Need to get some players fit now, then we can see where we are at.

I think its to shoe-horn Elliott in to the team on the right hand side, i mentioned it on another thread the TAA/Salah space-axis has stifled trying to fit Elliott in to the R/H side

In a fully fit squad, I'd argue that 4 of the guys that started on Monday wouldn't normally be first 11 players.
I reckon Firminho, Milner, Henderson and Gomez would all be sitting on the bench or rotating. Injuries really have ruined the start of our season, though I don't think that anyone could argue that we shouldn't have replaced some of the midfield in the squad.
We may be one attacker short too when you consider that we've moved on Mane, Taki and Origi but only replaced with Darwin and CarvalhoStatistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. Aaron Levenstein

Man City let Milner go, FOC, because he wasn't good enough, SEVEN YEARS ago
And he's starting for us against Man U
Whichever way you want to spin it, that is bat**** mental
We needed someone to challenge the midfield 3 before the injuriesI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Actually, they wanted to keep him. Milner did not sign the contract as he believed he wont get enough playing time.Originally posted by Fierce View PostMan City let Milner go, FOC, because he wasn't good enough, SEVEN YEARS ago

Huh? This revisionism on Milner is bat**** mental.
Milner has been a fantastic player for us and to imply he wasn’t or hasn’t been good enough is bollocks
Yes he’s 36 and shouldn’t be starting for us but come on?

They both shouldn’t be starting week in week out. Everyone can agree on that but both for what they’ve done over the past few seasons are club legends and have earned a bit of a break for me.
