Blame lays with the club if that's the case, and would explain why some of the players are playing looking fed up. Has there been as much of the bantery social media stuff this season, I haven't seen so much.

We had started to look jaded at the end of last season, if they haven't recovered then that needs to be addressed

      What is burnout though, really?

Everyone’s physically exhausted from playing a couple more games than city?

Everyone is unable to adjust mentally to the losses of the league and CL?

It seems like an easy catch all phrase but I am curious what the actual meaning is, and why they are applying to us and have not been mitigated well etc. Also, it seems intuitively easier to comprehend the concept when applied to an individual, but a whole group makes it more difficult.

I don’t see burnout, I see sloppy defending and a team that seems poorly set up at times.

There’s definitely been a massive drop off in intensity this seasons though, which naturally leads to a question of burnout. Mental, physical or both. Or it could be the result of mishandled preseason. Or a combination of both.

The change in system, is increasingly becoming another huge question mark though.

It's not all of a sudden. But it is just all of a sudden for many fans.

I see old idea’s getting trumped by new methods and freshness…

That's not true though. I've just looked at our results in the PL from March to the end of the season and we weren't leaking goals.

Feels a pretty recent change to me

I think there are problems all over the team, players just aren't at the level they were. In defence it's easy to criticize TAA defensively but I also feel that VVD isn't at the level he was previously, I feel both TAA and Robertson in particular have had alot of football and i think it shows Robertson hasn't been getting forward as much as he used to and TAA is getting caught out of position too much.

Midfield has been done to death but we really lack options Milner has gone on a season too long IMO, Ox, Naby, Jones have barely featured due to injury Henderson and Thiago have had injuries too and as a result the midfield has been all over the place.

Up front our big summer signing hasn't made the impact we were hoping for, Salah has continued his goal-shy form from last year. Diaz is a live wire but for me looks more a goal creater than a goal scorer.

The balance of the side just looks off, in all areas to be honest. It showed in our performance today (and for likewise for much of the season) This season has never really felt like we are in control of a game. Aside from the 9-0 we have barely been in front in a game all season, we won that one, and got the win against Newcastle in the last min, the only other game we have been in front in is Ajax, that lasted about 10 mins before they equalised and then we got a winner right at the death again.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I dont like to blame Milner... He is ****ed, but he has the audacity to never get injured too.

Megabucks new contract Hendo has been a bit crap too. Even Fab has looked knackered. After that we have Thiago (who is obviously very good) and my dead nan (who still has a better shot than Keita, and fitter than Ox).

Everton being above us in the league may actually be a sign of the apocalypse. Fingers crossed for next week.

My main concerns were around going for a quadruple ('concern' ha) and age of midfield. Though admittedly did not predict TAA's ****ness, that's totally out of the blue.

Everyone and his wife knows about Keita and Ox being totally unreliable as vertical units. Thiago never being far behind. So we were bound to get fecked in the ass over-using our already knackered and always ageing remaining players post that shorter summer break. Getting Melo so late won't help us until November time at the earliest.

Ultimately, for a richer club, these are minor problems. City usually resolve them within hours. We didn't/can't. And that's why what's happening now is not sudden.

Edit: results are what paper over cracks. The key is to keep looking for cracks, in a positive way.

Based on the teams current from an no real signs of any improvement...the team will comfortably finish in the bottom half of the table !

We play a completely different type of football to City. At our best, it's physically demanding and requires everyone to be almost perfect. We also use a relatively small squad and rely on a core number of players. City's game is more measured, not as intense, and makes use of a very strong squad (deep with quality).

Age is also a factor for us. I'm sure (??) that we had the oldest CL final team. Even the very best players decline with age. A number of our core players have already peaked.
                            Another MASSIVE game

We didn't address an ageing and injury prone midfield like absolutely every man and his dog was pointing out and we are paying the price. But it's fine, we'll get Jude next season to potentially play in the Europa league football.

We are so lacking there, they do nothing to help the forwards and they do nothing to help the defence. Unfortunately we stuck now and have to find a way to deal with it. Only ourselves to blame, took a huge gamble and are paying for it. Just Arsenal and City in the next few games.

We have a rebuilding job and Klopp didn’t expect to be the one to do it. I think that’s probably why we dropped the ball on refreshing the first team
