I know but I still think that their lack of pace would have still seen them exposed even if they were dropped into our current team which was what I was saying.

I just don't think either come close to having the sort of potential, confidence and physical qualities that Quansah has despite both being a few years older than him.

Quansah looks like he might well be a potential upper tier PL player, the other two never did imo.

Couple his emergence at CB with Bradley at right back and it's almost like Klopp and his staff know their squad better than those posters on Liverpool forums who were screaming out for us to invest heavily in the centre back and right back positions this summer.
Clearly we didn’t know how good he was given his loan spell was apparently “just ok” when you compare to Bradley who won awards at Bolton. I still think we need 1 more, I’m happy for him to continue in the rotation as one of four top CBs. Matip won’t return so another is needed. His passing, especially the ling diagonals is another great tool he has - right now he’s a good a CB prospect as any in world football…… and I don’t say that lightly

No doubting they were initially over exposed with our high line but klopp tinkered and dropped the line deeper to prevent them being exposed and then allowed them to play to their strengths.
These two dead beats saved our season!
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I was not suggesting that they were dead beats nor was I trying to play down their roles during that season.

I just think Quansah already looks a much better player than either of them and that he fits our system rather than needing it to be tweaked to account for him.

Impossible to deny this. Phillips and Williams both did a great job that season, but neither suit our style of play.

it’s not like he’s only started getting minutes since Matip was out. I also think we need one more center back, especially with Konate and Gomez injury records. Also with the amount that Gomez has been filling in at both full back positions, and how good a job he has done, I would say he should be
out of contention at center back, apart from emergency.
                  I don't tip

Clearly Quansah is viewed as the better prospect or one of Phillips or Williams would be getting game time here. I would expect both Phillips and Williams will probably move on fairly soon as it's difficult to see a future for them here.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yeah. Williams has been given game time and he's not shined. Phillips is decent enough back up, IMO, he'll never be first choice here though

haven’t seen him play since that season with us, but think Phillips is good, but just doesn’t suit our style of play.

I think he’s good enough to start for a bottom half PL team that plays to his strengths.

Yes, 100% agree with this. Definitely a PL quality defender, but not for one of the top 4/5 who play the super high lines that are all the rage today

Could see big Nat doing a good job for Palace or West Ham that play a bit deeper

I think he is a great option for the bench if you need to bring someone on to defend a lead or cut out the high balls. I dont see him any worse than Lovern who could cause the entire defence to fold on regular occasions, or Skrtel.

Doc Jaco is right...... Quansah looks like a potential worldie

Apparently we have another one or two brilliant young defenders coming up behind him too - some fella called Amara Nallo. Hes just 17 but build like a brick ****house.

Lfc have some ****in brilliant young players. Bobby Clark, Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, Bradley, Quansah and the fella Nyoni supposed to be a potential worldie too. When you consider that the average age of our first 11 is already young as **** then the potential here is ****in unreal. And i think what it might mean is that when the time eventually does come to say goodbye to the likes of Mo Salah, Virgil and Alisson, then we will have a pretty big wedge ready to do that because we have sich strength in depth that we won't need that many others.

Getting back to defenders, i wonder would we go for someone like Tosin Adarabioyo from fulham. Might be cheap enough as he is out of contract in the summer. Good age and a good player. Would add strength in depth and be a reasonable back up player but wouldn't hold Quansah back either. Basically could replace Matip. Lloyd Kelly might be another option in the exact same scenario

                                Gettig back
