I also saw this which actually shows we have been very effective when we do turn the ball over

Statistically we are actually quite healthy from both an xg created and conceded perspective but on the pitch we can see our CBs are doing well and Ali is making saves. I do like that Slot is calling that out though, he’s not singing the praises of everybody, he keeps saying there is loads to improve

    Here is the xg stat

I wouldn't mind seeing just a little bit more rotation.

Gakpo and Jones can count themselves unlucky not to have started last night.

Yeah I would have rotated a bit more. I think the problem area in terms of rotation is the midfield two. They are just both so good that even Jones feels like a big drop off. Zubimendi would have made a big difference in terms of squad depth and ability to rotate without feeling like you are taking a risk.

I think we are right in the title mix other than squad depth. We will need to be lucky with injuries to have a chance IMO.

Agree, these two need some minutes really, and probably deserve them. Quansah needs some minutes as well. How are we on injuries though compared to usually?

I think our squad depth is actually pretty good, very good in fact. We’ve basically got two front threes that could get into almost any other premier league team, good options in each midfield position and the same again in defence. Not sure what more we should expect to be honest.

In attack we have arguably the best backups in the world.

In defence I'd say we have good cover too.

We have a brilliant backup keeper too.

For me it's just the midfield. Jones I think can adapt to it, but he's not ideal for that role IMO. Endo would have been gone had Zubimendi not snubbed us, and Elliot is the only real backup to Szoboszlai. I think it's this area where the drop off worries me when we rotate.

Jones and Elliot can play Szoboszlai's role and to a lesser extent Gakpo and Gravenberch.

I'm surprised by the lack of trust in Jones to give MacGrav a break. But this also passes my eye test as Jones still has that slight tendency to hold on to the ball at the wrong times. Gravo and Mac do it too, obviously, but they know exactly when to hold and when to let go. Those nano sec decisions make all the difference for building momentum, or wrecking it.

Slot seems to like this tick-tock (not tiki taka) football we play. And so do I for that matter. I think Slot is giving Jones time to adapt to it by watching and learning.

Think if we had got the Paella and mountains boy, then Gravenberch would have not gotten the minutes he has gotten.

I hope Slot's man management skills are AAA+. A lot of good players are getting almost no time. Im not sure they are going to be happy with that situation. Hopefully he is good at one on one communiation. Klopp had a lot of charisma, and hopefully Slott has a bit of that (as opposed to Benitez who seemed to be quite bad at managing people and personalities... although at least he didnt have the three envelope trick or a book on how to pick up women)

Cant argue with the results we have been geting, but burnout has been a massive issue for us in past seasons, so I think we have to wait and see if his approach is the right one. We dont seem to be getting as many niggles, so I am hopeful.

He seems to go hard and go early with his subs which is a bit of a change. Maybe this strategy will play dividends.

Charly did not need the book though. He is from the Nat Philips school of finding a mate.

Chase 'em up a tree and then just wait for them to say yes to going on a date with you.
