When a manager is under pressure the question is always, 'could another manager be getting significantly more out of the same players?'. We're firmly in yes territory here.

We’ve got a big squad, but unfortunately Slot is painting himself into a corner again. He gets to a position where he only trusts XI and we can’t rotate after a big performance vs Real. It looks like confidence with some of them is all over the place. He absolutely needs to figure out a formation that works and coach players to play it and have backup players that also know what to do.
I was worried when I saw the lineup. Maybe Jones in midfield to freshen that up. Maybe Gakpo back in. Kerkez (though his confidence looks shot) to give Robbo a break. Look at Chiesa to give Mo a break or push Hugo wide and start Chiesa CF. I can see why he chose the same XI but it was a worry nonetheless. He has never with us been a manager that trusts his squad.
And then tactically, again tonight away from Anfield we look poor. City won the important moments within the game. It’s a worry because we now have justifiable doubts about Slot and they won’t disappear when we basically don’t show up in big games.

Very much on the same page here.
Would also like to know what sort of conversations happened in the summer around recruitment too because we’ve splashed incredible amounts of money on players who Slot doesn’t seem to fancy or know what to do with.
Some of them have been crap admittedly, but we know they’re good players given what they’ve shown elsewhere.
It’s strange that he started to use Endo and he made an impact in the second half of last season, only as a sub though. I thought maybe he’s going to be used more now but he hasn’t had a look in and feels like the type of player the team could use. Same with Gomez. He would be useful at RB at the moment. Why bother keep these players if they’re not going to be used?
I really don’t get it. He was so flexible and got plenty of players to improve and seemed to be able to make adjustments in games that worked but it’s the opposite this season. Players underperforming and sticking to things that clearly aren’t working.
I don’t know what’s happening. Surely it’s wasn’t a case of the team being primed to win it last season and he just got lucky timing wise to take offer a very settled team with no changes. He’s obviously got the ability to manage a team but maybe not the experience to keep it going and make it his own yet. He’s definitely under pressure now and the little turnaround has ended and put the spotlight back on the team and himself.
I think we are hoping we can keep in touch with top 4 until the January window opens and then try address a few issues. A few more losses though and Slot could really be in trouble. 7 defeats in 10 is pretty shocking.
Our play around the opposition box seems directionless. It’s as if they’re playing off the cuff with no understanding of what each other are going to do. They need set patterns drilled into them.
