Seeing lots of people mentioning Fabregas as a possibility.
Surely not. Like he's done an amazing job at Como and they play some great football. But going straight to a team like ours is a giant leap.
If Slot goes, you'd think it will be Iraola or Glasner, or even Xabi if he gets the boot from Madrid"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Arne Slot pulls out of receiving award following Liverpool’s 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot pulled out of receiving an award in Manchester on Sunday night following his side’s 3-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest a day earlier.
Slot won the Football Writers’ Association Northern manager of the year award after guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title in the 2024-25 season. What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Glasner, Iraola, Cesc or whatever, Slot has lost the plot, it's quite obvious, I don't even feel that the defending is the main problem, we're so slow building up play and attacking that teams can easily defend us and then pick us off and bully us. I was willing to take a transitional season but this is way OTT. He's also not looking to good at pressers tbh.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I'm not sure it is entirely on slot. I think the players have become mentally weak. Once we concede our heads drop. I think this whole jota thing is having a huge impact. It's like mentally they haven't dealt with things and the new guys don't have enough character to lift themselves. Barring Frimpong, the others seem fairly quiet individuals. Something isn't right and it's not all on the manager. Senior players are playing so poorly.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Even more so than when slot was selected, fitting any new manager to the players that we have already assembled at massive cost is key. That seems like it requires a pretty complex technical analysis and I know I'm not equipped to make such judgements. As such, I have no suggestions for who should come in if we do change manager, but I do reserve the right to **** on other people's ideas.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostGlasner, Iraola, Cesc or whatever, Slot has lost the plot, it's quite obvious, I don't even feel that the defending is the main problem, we're so slow building up play and attacking that teams can easily defend us and then pick us off and bully us. I don't really put as much emphasis on Jota's passing as an explanation as many others do, but some people are more suited than others to lead a team through such things. Klopp was a highly personable man, seemed to have great emotional intelligence and strikes me as someone who would be ideal in the circumstances. Slot does not, he's more matter of fact, more distant and more Dutch, and that's not his fault, grief counselor wasn't part of the job description. Maybe a fresh start with a slightly different kind of personality, who can draw a sort of emotional line in the sand, change the atmosphere, refocus minds, might help everyone.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI'm not sure it is entirely on slot. Remember Rafa’s sad, final season with us. Every game had lots of baffling, strange decisions. Tactics and personnel all over the place. I’m reminded of that when I look at what Slot is doing this season.
It’s like he’s cracked under the pressure and has lost all his confidence. I don’t think he can come back from this…James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

If we make a chance I hope it is none of those three. All look very promising and might in time be ready for a big club, but right now we are a big club in need of a rebuild tactically and mentally.
Think we need someone with experiences of the pressures of rebuilding and the pressures of winning.
Klopp I do not think is a flight of fancy, and I reckon talks of some sort have happened, but if I was to pick a manager based on the players we brought in this summer and who has a favourite formation but who is flexible with it based on the availability of players then I think Inzaghi would be worth a look.
He does like three at the back (similar to Palace) and likes to get his width from full backs/wing backs. He likes to play with two up front and likes to have an AM behind them.
When attacking or on the ball his full backs become wingser so there is five in the middle and the two strikers up front and when theteam loses the ball the wing backs become regular full backs as part of five at the back and the AM drops into the centre to keep three in the centre to help avoid runners throuh the middle getting at the back line.
Is a youngish manager at 49 so still learning, but has some cups and a league title to his name and has shown he can gel big name players into a hard working team that plays as a unit.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Is there an issue with him that he doesn't speak English? I've heard this mentioned.Originally posted by Doc_Piptorious View PostIf we make a chance I hope it is none of those three. Yeah, I don't like calling for anyone's head, especially after handling the death of a player which no manager should have to "deal with"Originally posted by Rich View PostRemember Rafa’s sad, final season with us. But i can't see how he's going to come through this. Oddly the recruitment has given him more problems than answers (i thought he was tactically astute to deal with it, but he hasn't found a solution yet). The Salah situation is absolutely cooking him, it's wild.
He may as well start making big decisions before that is taken away for him. Even at this stage i'd be willing to see Gomez back in the fold.

I think the recruitment guys don't get a pass on this either, we have brought in some very good players (on paper at least) but surely there has to have been a plan between them and the manager as to the types of players we wanted and how we were going to play etc. Because it was obvious to most of us fans than with the players we signed in the summer we couldn't carry on trying to play the same way, but it seems we have been trying to. While the manager ultimately has to take responsibility for the performances on the pitch we supposedly work with multiple people and a cohesive structure and at the moment it doesn't look like that has worked too well.Originally posted by labourRed View PostYeah, I don't like calling for anyone's head, especially after handling the death of a player which no manager should have to "deal with"

Completely agree with this. As promising as they are, there are questions about the ability of Glasner, Iraola to step up and adjust their style of play to a team that will have 60% possession and facing mid / low blocks in most games, as well as the off field pressures that come as manager of one of the few truly global football clubsOriginally posted by Doc_Piptorious View PostIf we make a chance I hope it is none of those three. If we're moving Slot on (it stills feel very surreal that I'm writing this sentence only in November after a title winning seasons and £400m spent in the summer), I'm keen to see who's gone through the ups and downs of management a little more, with a track record of rebuilding and dealing with noise / pressure, including dealing with superstar players on a more equal basis
No idea who that is, to be honest, so not very helpful - no obvious candidates out there at the moment (don't want Ancelotti, as he will be a short tem sugar hit only, may as well take Klopp back on a temporary basis)
Inzaghi is an interesting shout - I was also thinking about SpallettiLast edited by Sus; 24-11-25, 12:04 PM.

Gary McAllister was called up to accept an award on Arne Slot's behalf on Sunday, just as he was watching Leeds United's clash with Aston Villa. Despite winning the Northern Football Writers' Association manager of the year award for his endeavours last season, Slot decided not to attend Sunday's ceremony.Originally posted by Yozza View PostArne Slot pulls out of receiving award following Liverpool’s 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest
