How come it was ok to overpay for isak but not for Guehi. If we had offered more the owner would have told his manager to shut up and they'd have sold, because money is always a prime factor. Its all fine and dandy to say you are after the right player for the right price. But sometimes you need to spend more on the right player. We did it for VVD. We did it for a few. Should have done it for him as well. Honestly even at 50mill I'd consider it a steal. We could have just kept Nat and not had any problems ever again for the next decade. Like I said I think they just fed off the crowd when they got going rather than anything else. Sometimes the team needs to lift the crowd sometimes the crowd needs to lift the team and they did tonight.

Makes you want more league games at night. Scrap early kick offs and make them late games like tonight. You always get a better atmosphere when you have that excitement building all day waiting for the game.

It happened at least 3 times.

The reason we win so many night games at home is because of the crowd. If you set up to play slow boring football in the name of control you are nullifying one of the main weapons. We are always better playing fast attacking football. Houllier didn't grasp this either.

Arne will still be our manager next season, imo. Not signing a defender in this window implies to me we are willing to write this season off, to an extent. If we snatch champs league football - even with the most dour crap you've ever watched - I think he'll be here next season.
