Why has slot ****ed around with formation the past few games before reverting to a high press to finally get a convincing win?
We better start like this against PSG. Not sure we have the fitness to press all game, but if we can blitz them early and get a goal.or two, its a better problem
Last year we managed 3 shots on target from 19 in the anfield game after (psg 8/21) in addition to.our ****ty penalties.
Away we managed 1 on target out of 2 in the first leg v psg's 10/27 shots on target. That was 4 shots on target in 210 minutes.
Last week we managed 0/3 v 6/18.
So a grand total of 4 shots on target in 300 minutes.
It doesnt bode well imhoIn the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I'll be in Liverpool on Tuesday - if I watch the match and we win, it will be an absolutely epic night out. If we lose then it'll be a bit of a downer...
So where's the best place to watch the match? I'm staying in Lace Street btw."We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

Yeah, we can't defend so we're getting bummed either way but may as well go out fighting.Originally posted by Charly View PostWhy has slot ****ed around with formation the past few games before reverting to a high press to finally get a convincing win?

Fulham could have had 2 or 3 in the last 30..

I'm surprised more hasn't been made of the line in Wallace's article about Edwards and Hughes only ever intending to stay for the length of their contracts. That's the bit that’s made me pause.
Up until now, I was convinced Slot would be gone at the end of the season regardless of where we finish. The mood around the club feels toxic, he's clearly lost a big section of the fanbase, and it just feels like one of those situations you don't really come back from, even if we scrape CL. But that line has made me flip a bit.
If the people making the decision aren't thinking long term themselves, are they actually going to make a big call like sacking the manager? Or are they more likely to stick, avoid a major reset, and just see things through while they're here?
Now don't get me wrong, they're professionals and you'd expect them to act in the best interests of the club regardless of how long they're staying. But there's still a difference between doing your job well and being fully invested in the long term direction of the club.
It especially raises questions with Hughes. The sporting director is usually the long term figure who shapes the vision. If he's not that, then who is really driving things beyond the next couple of years?
And then when you factor in that Slot's contract runs to the same point as theirs, it does make you wonder whether the plan is just to see this cycle through and reassess everything at the same time. That in itself might explain why they'd be reluctant to make a big call now.
I still think Slot should go, and I've been consistent on that. But I'm no longer as convinced the club will act, even if we finish top 5. That line makes me feel like they might just ride it out instead.

Bit of a hypothetical but if we were to lose tomorrow (we will) but end up finishing 4th (or even 5th) is it actually fair to sack him?
Yes it would be a trophy-less season, but a trophy-less season off the back of a title winning one, and where we still set ourselves up with Champions League football next season.
Is that still enough to justify getting rid of him?
Don't get me wrong I want a new manager and I just can't see him turning it around sadly, but when I try to analyse it calmly the conclusion I come to is that it would be harsh and un-liverpool-like to sack him?

He is 100% starting next season.

If Chelsea finish 5th but fall foul of UEFAs spending caps (I read somewhere that they are more strict that the premier league in terms off allowable overspend?), would the PL forfeit that fifth spot, or would it go to the 6th placed team?Originally posted by Pablo View PostBit of a hypothetical but if we were to lose tomorrow (we will) but end up finishing 4th (or even 5th) is it actually fair to sack him?

According to my AI friend, Chelsea’s spot in that scenario would go to the 6th place team.Originally posted by Scratch View PostIf Chelsea finish 5th but fall foul of UEFAs spending caps (I read somewhere that they are more strict that the premier league in terms off allowable overspend?), would the PL forfeit that fifth spot, or would it go to the 6th placed team?

On paper, finishing in CL places and being in the QF of this year's CL should not get a manager sackedOriginally posted by Pablo View PostBit of a hypothetical but if we were to lose tomorrow (we will) but end up finishing 4th (or even 5th) is it actually fair to sack him?

Its the state of the way we're playing right now that is a concern, but again that's probably not enough to get a manager sacked
Another season of this turgid bollocks is not something to look forward toI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
