Pretty sure getting to the semi-finals nets you a lot more than a few meaningless wins.

Semifinalists €15m ($16.6m)Originally posted by BigChief View PostLeague-phase wins €2.1m ($2.3m)
League-phase draws €700k ($777,883)
Quarterfinalists €12.5m ($13.9)
Round of 16 €11m ($12.2)
So that's €38.5m (approx £32m), much better than a couple of extra uneccessary wins in the league format."We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

The difference? You get 11m euros for making it that far right? Then a further 12.5m for the QF then 15m if you get to the SF.Originally posted by ChesterDave View Post2 league stage wins is worth more than the difference between last 16 and semi finals
You're less likely to do that if your players get injured in dead rubber games."We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

Next weekend is gonna be massive! We play Villa at anfield, city are away to Brighton and arsenal are away to Chelsea.
I could see something similar to today happening- us winning and the other two dropping points. The midweek games help us with next weekend fixtures too- we play at home on Tuesday, Villa are away in Belgium on Wednesday; city are away in Portugal on Tuesday, Brighton have no midweek game; Arsenal away in Italy on Wednesday, Chelsea have no midweek game!
Not unthinkable that we could be 5 points clear at the top going into the city game on Dec 1st.I don't tip

It’s pretty hard to avoid the fact that we have the opportunity to win the League this year. City and Arsenal are dropping points and we look relentless. Of course it could all change but I think we will be there or there about. We also look like we have improvements in us as an attacking force but defensively we look very, very solid and that offers further hope. Only conceding 6 in 11 games is phenomenal.
Slot has been rotating where he can and the depth we have looks good. Will be interesting to see if we have anyone lined up in Jan, but again we arent exactly short with Harvey, Allison, Chiesa and Jota due back.
Feels reminiscent of the year we won it in that we went on a phenomenal run up to Christmas and I think that the next 2 months will be where we really start to see if we have what it takes.
Hard not to be getting a bit excited and carried away and whereas the ‘one game at a time’ mantra is perfect for players - the look forwards and dream outlook is where it’s at for us.Modifying post.
