You're right he (Can) is a far more well rounded player who will go on to have a bigger impact at LFC and the game in general.

Lucas is an okay squad option for specific situations in a game but I don't believe he should be starting.

Wrong, Lucas reads the game well, but he is quite awful at tackling for an apparent defensive midfielder.

Also there were times in the match last night where Lucas would have played the ball quicker up the park once we regained possession if he had started..particularly in the first half when we laboured with the ball in the deep

Can is more mobile and powerful,a far better dribbler and shooter and is nowhere near reaching his potential yet.

No disrespect to Lucas but Emre Can is potentially world class. Lucas never was.

I don't think that Can is DM, IMO he made a difference yesterday because he was an extra body in midfield that helped up win the battle in there. I don't think that the role he played as a DM role as such. I still think if we need an out and out DM Lucas is the only player in the squad who can do that job.

We don't play with a DM!! In times of need we've had Lucas in there to solidify the middle of the park but |Rodgers doesn't seem to want to play with a DM. I don't think it will change tbh.

Agreed. Very disappointed if he's shipped out. Feels like almost the entire squad is new....long-serving, loyal pros like Lucas are good to have around, aside from the fact he can still play. If he goes we'd have to buy a DM, surely.

Let's not shackle these lads and force them to play in a position that is not natural to them. Certain games we might be able to go without a DM but others we will need one.
