On the basis of what we've seen this season it surely has to be considered if this news is true that Rodgers and the club would be much more keen on retaining him but his head is now fixed on moving on. Logically that would be my reading of it.

The only other reason they'd want rid is if they had enough with his injuries. I'm sure we'll find out the truth soon enough.

      agree with all of this.

lucas was in and out with injuries. the other thing that was clouding most peoples judgement about the suitability of lucas as dm was the insistence of the manager to play gerrard alongside him.
lucas must have thought he had no future when we were rampant and stevie was playing well offensively, and while still getting the odd good interceptions in he often went missing and we were conceding far too many.

Be a real shame if we lost him, he seems like a club man. 3 or so years ago Id have picked him as the next Club Captain.

There are better players than him out there, but as we have seen this season. Ability counts for nothing when it comes to signing for anyone.

Id keep him on for a couple more years.

Yep - and talk of a fall-out between the two of them a few months back might have something do with it too.

He's not leaving it seems. I hope anyway. Posted to his instagram.

Eight years already. It seems like yesterday. I remember everything. Every goal ( not many , every win , every game!
I am so grateful to the club, to the city, to you guys! I hope I can enjoy many more moments with this shirt. #YNWA #redsince2007

If he stays this summer then we can consider it a successful summer in my eyes

Be brilliant if he stays, fully fit he's excellent. Still though, we do need another quality DM as his injury record is pretty woeful.

If he was staying, and IF he was staying fully fit, he'd be my choice for captain.
                  Deed is done now though.

I read that as a man resigned to leaving, why get rid of him Not on massive wages, we wont get a big fee.

To me it reads like *he doesn't want to* leave.

If he is sold I will be totally ****ing pissed off. We need lads like him around, what with having next to no senior players - not to mention he's very good at what he does.

Still think he's under-appreciated. He's one of those Liverpool players - like Alonso, Mascherano etc - who deserved to win something big with us. Great loyalty, great bloke (seemingly), top player. Love him.

I used to absolutely hate seeing him in the side. But I've grown to love the guy. He's determined and loyal and seems to be a great team player. No point selling him unless its for a hefty fee (10m +)

would be madness to sell him but with our transfer policy at the moment you just never know
Oh I say his vision there was lovely

Would not sell him unless we had to and even at that there would have to be at least one player of a certain level coming in to take his place.

Ideally we would be bringing in quality and we would be keeping Lucas on as cover for at least another season. But I guess a lot will depend on whether or not Lucas would want to stay as a squad player.

I was at the Chelsea game with my mate and, when Lucas came on, I said to him "our best player's coming on".

He looked at me like I was mad He is so under-appreciated/rated outside our own ranks. Probably the most out of any player I can remember.

He's definitely one for the connoisseurs of the game
