To be fair to Lucas on his current injury he was subject to a near leg breaker from Cisse in the Newcastle game, I'm not surprised he didn't come away from that unscathed.

Yeah fair point... Lousy tackle. Personally I think we'd be mad to sell Lucas.

He's had a rough time of it injury wise, but he seems to bounce back and always offer a decent level of performance. And stato wise don't we perform better with him in the team?

We can't afford to lose all of the teams experience in one summer.

We need an upgrade on Lucas but should try to keep him as an experienced squad player.
Can't see him agreeing to that though, after missing so much football I suspect he'll want to go somewhere like Italy or Spain where the game is slower and play every week

The guy for me, embodies all that you want in a LFC player .. heart, passion and a bit of balls. He gets stuck, aways puts in a shift and just gets on with it. So unlucky with injuries but we do genuinely look a more balanced team with him in there.

I know some people will say that we would look more balanced with any out and out DM, and can't really disagree with that until we have another out and out DM in there instead of Lucas. I just don't think it's worth the risk in getting rid of him, keep him and get someone else in too if we really feel the need to add another DM.

You could argue that maybe we are looking for a younger DM with more legs than Lucas & that Lucas's injury record doesn't exactly make him reliable. I just like the guy and wouldn't want him gone, total turn around from my opinion of him when he first came to LFC.

                  Sissoko

I rate him. Saw him a fair bit for Toulouse (had a house nearby) and really wanted to sign him before Newcastle did, still do. Despite that ****ty challenge
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Although Lucas might have been told that the DM role will be one of our major signings this summer and he knows that he will be back up and wants more.

I think we'd be crazy to sell Lucas, we look a much better team with him playing and I'm sure the stats (in terms of wins with and without him) back this up. This seems to come up every transfer window since Rodgers has been here, hopefully there is nothing in it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                            Irreplaceable player
(In the sense that you cannot skimp on that midfield position......you need a dedicated model of a sort, not try to shoehorne someone like Allen or Henderson into the role)
Looked like Lucas was leaving on the lead up to Jan, so perhaps he's made his peace with a move. Certainly if Rodgers is making the call, without superior backup, its just another reason to question his thought process.

I think we're looking at an Alonso-type situation where a player underperforms one season, is almost replaced but that falls through and he goes on to have a complete 180 the next year. By last summer the overwhelming consensus was that Lucas would never be the same player again and was basically shot, nobody wanted him back in the team and the club were considering moving him on - he would have gone to Napoli was it if they hadn't lowballed us as usual.

On the basis of what we've seen this season it surely has to be considered if this news is true that Rodgers and the club would be much more keen on retaining him but his head is now fixed on moving on. Logically that would be my reading of it.

Now all my lies are proved untrue
