That touch and pass by Markovic near the half way line at 52:30(ish) is a thing of beautyOriginally posted by tanner View Post

Unfortunately it's pissed this season up the wall in some respects.Originally posted by danperkins View PostYeah we were crying out for him & what he brings to the side. Rodgers really did drag the Stevie DM thing out far too long.. but sure at least Rodgers realised the error of his ways eventually.
I'm sure we could have clawed back at least 6 points if we'd had Lucas in the team (and not next to Gerrard). We'd be 7 points behind Chelsea which is hardly insurmountable. Was muß, das muß.

Someone commented "Go watch his game against City in 2011 against Yaya Toure. He was the best DM at the time"Originally posted by tanner View PostWas muß, das muß.

Dunno mate but it was detrimental to the team that's for sure.Originally posted by Scratch View PostWas it a case of doing the utmost to convince Gerrard that he was still vital to the team, and to sign an extension?
Would be sick if after a cracking season and him getting back to his finest form....Lucas decides to leave.

Lucas not sure where his long-term future lies
Lucas Leiva insists he remains fully committed to Liverpool FC - but admit he’s not sure where his long-term future lies.
The 28-year-old Brazil midfielder has attracted interest from Inter Milan this month but Brendan Rodgers is adamant he’s not for sale.
Last summer Rafa Benitez tried to take him on loan to Napoli but the Reds blocked the move as they would only consider cash offers.
Lucas says he did consider leaving when he was out of favour but having re-established himself in Rodgers’ side over the past two months he’s focused on helping Liverpool in their pursuit of glory.
“We all know the relationship I have with Rafa, I don’t need to explain that,” he said.
“If it wasn’t for Rafa I probably wouldn’t be here. Rafa was so important for me, as Kenny (Dalglish) was as well.
“It is normal when you are out of the team and have been at a club for a long time. There are always rumours in the transfer window and it will be like that until February 2nd.
“I just have to focus on what I can control at the moment and see what happens.
“I would be lying if I said I never thought about something new but I can’t tell you what is going to happen because it is football and we really don’t know. I just focus on today and leave the future to take care of itself.
“I am very relaxed and from my first day here I have always tried to give my all. I have been here eight years and I am not trying to convince people, especially those on the outside, that I am good or bad or whatever.
“It is always good to hear good things being said about you, especially when it’s from people inside the club. That’s where I want to feel wanted and respected. It gives you the confidence to keep going.”

Its clear he doesn't want to go anywhere else. Just look at his celebrations.
Maybe, just maybe, Lucas' push to leave forced Brendan's hand to drop Gerrard more. And with Gerrard now definitely going in the summer that defensive mid spot is his to hold for another season at least. One tit for another.
