Allen has earned his spot. Am a firm believer of keeping the guys who are performing in the team on merit, rather than having bigger names walking back in as soon as they are fit.


Granted Lucas was doing well before his injury, but Allen has taken his chance and deserves to keep his spot until either form or injury says otherwise.

Lucas on the bench to start with for me, Allen has been playing well of late and I don't think changing the side at the moment makes sense with big games vs the Mancs and Arsenal coming up.

Great news, but need to play him in 'easier' games first as he will be off the pace. Can't afford too many slip ups if we're finishing top 4 and Allen is on top form at the moment.

Lucas will no doubt be rusty after 6 weeks out, plus Allen deserves to keep his place. Allen also gives us the option of introducing Gerrard at some point, without effecting the balance of the midfield too much, whereas we know Lucas and Gerrard aren't a great combination.

Not only will Gerrard be leaving, but Glen Johnson and Kolo Touré are out of contract and Lucas Leiva – who nearly left in January – is expected to end his Anfield career.

I don't think it's financially possible for us to adequately replace him this summer considering we need to replace Gerrard also
