I don't think there is any comparison to made between Lucas and Aquilani.

Lucas was a young player learning his trade in a position where much of the good work he did went un-noticed and unappreciated and every mistake was amplified/scrutinised. He was no where near as bad as some made out but unfortunately had two of the best holding midfielders in Alonso and Mascherano as yard sticks for his development and as such was often made the scape goat for some of the poor team performances we saw under Rafa.

Aquilani came in as an established/cultured play maker who arrived injured and as such, never got time to settle - I have no doubts that given time and barring further injuries, he would have become an important player for us. I was genuinely disappointed when we shipped him out at the start of the season.

We oughta start a campaign for Aquilani to let him know that there are fans out there that rate him & want him to stay...so any ideas?

It's never ok to criticize a young player that much. He will make more mistakes than an older player almost all the time. Lucas was a young player and deserved the chance to prove what he could offer us. Many fans didn't give him that chance. Insua had the same problem. A young player that learned the league and will make mistakes.

If you want us to play youngsters like them then you also must accept that they make more mistakes. Look at the positives more than the negatives. Look at what the player can offer us after a couple of years and not after a few months. It takes longer time than that.

Flanagan will make mistakes and play rubbish games but it is all part of the learning and will make you tougher. A young player need to be as tough mentally as Lucas to make it these days because he will get abuse and a lot of criticism if he make mistakes.
