Whoever signed off on this is a total moron (if it happens). We look a much more stable team with him in it. Who sells their regular starting midfielder for £5 million when you're unbeaten in the last 12 games he's started in.

He's a regular starter, even if you see him dropping down to the bench you don't get a replacement for him for £5m so it makes no sense to sell him. £5m for him is peanuts.

How can a player go from first team to sold for a nominal fee mid season.

We are absolutely hemorrhaging experience in the squad. Gerrard, Toure, Jonson,Lucas all gone in the next 6 months leaving Brad Jones and Rickie Lambert as our old heads.

We need to keep some of the experienced players, Gerrard is off in the summer, and if we sell Lucas now that leaves us with Henderson, Allen, Can and Rossiter as the only real midfielders that offer anything in a defensive sense. Henderson fine, Allen has never held down a first team place, Can looks decent but has played more games at CB than in defence, Rossiter has played a couple of games. This decision is barmy.

Wouldn't surprise me if we bring Milner in as a replacement. More attack minded which seems Rodgers' only concern. Obv I'd rather we kept Lucas and our midfield combination.
