Carragher extolling the virtues of his former manager, Brendan Rodgers saying that the LFC job came too early for him & would be ideal replacement after Klopp.

Just shut up, Jamie if ya have nothing good to say!

Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Tactically they were not dissimillar. Klopp is still far superior in implementation. Personality wise on different planets.

Wouldn’t be crying out for it, but Carragher has worked with him and has an opinion, I’m not sure it’s something to criticise him for.

                It's an opinion from Carragher.

I think Rogers would be a step back but then pretty much anyone else coming in would be., when the inevitable happens and he Klopp down who we bring in is going to find it hard, certainly to start with.

                    That's a fair point.

Rodgers is a very decent coach. But has he become top tier since leaving us?
Would anyone confidently predict that he’ll eventually reach that level?

Put it this way, right now if any of City, Utd or Chelsea parted company with their current coach, I’d be massively relieved if Rodgers was the best they could do as a replacement.

I think B-dog has found his level.

He has turned Leicester into a very dangerous team. They are struggling a bit more this season with Euro and Domestic footy. I imagine he will get another shot at the big time, personally I don’t want that to be with us.

Aye, had his shot & failed nonetheless then replaced by a übermenschlich

To be fair he is half right the LFC job did come too early for him. In terms of the managers in the PL he is almost certainly the 'best of the rest'.

Would I want him as Klopp’s replacement? No - I don't think he's up to it, following Klopp is going to be really difficult a big ask for anyone. I feel his (Rodgers) ceiling is probably as a manager of a club in or around 4th where we were mostly when he was in charge, the kind of Arsenal, Spurs type level of the last few years, maybe you make the CL if you have a good year or are lucky, but never really in danger of winning the PL/CL. For me while he has improved his CV since leaving us, I don't really think that he has improved as a manager.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

he struggled with LFC when he had to do european footy as well......went bat**** crazy then....

Rodgers was very keen to show that he was an always-evolving coach. He was like Fr Ted trying to knock that dent out of the car...... he kept tweaking tactics that he eventually ended up with a total cluster**** (think Stevies last ever game for us.....a hammering at Stoke!!)

When he first joined, he bombed out Andy Carroll even though we had no other strikers at the time. Andy wouldn't fit into his style of play. It was probably all in the powerpoint at the time. No problem with that but when he went back to the board a few years later and asked that they pay £35m for Christian Benteke, that is when they should have pulled the plug on his tenure.

Also, there was the small matter of his grumblings about the transfer committee towards the end of his time at LFC. Every transfer success seemed to be Brendans and every car crash was a committee purchase. So that dynamic would make his return even more unlikely.

I can see it being really hard to replace Jurgen. Pep Ljinders might be the best guy but in reality who would do what he does now then?!?! Sometimes an upward promotion like that might not work out so well. Perhaps the club will look to bring someone in who will keep Ljinders where he currently is. Ljinders might even end up on the interview panel himself.

I think if Ljinders gets on well with Gerrard....and stevie is happy to fall into the current set-up, then he might get the nod.

I'm still hopeful that Jurgen will sign another contract though. Hopefully the summer of 2022 brings in a few really promising young players and Jurgen just won't be able to not see them progress.

Rodgers is a very good football manager.

To have achieved what he has by his age is really rare and he plays with a clear style in mind and to be fair he's proven at Leicester that he can build a very good squad over a few years, they've made some great signings and he can take some of the credit for that. If you read some of the quotes Gerrard and Suarez have said of him, it's clear he's very well thought of.

He was a whisker away from winning the league and a lot of people bat that away as if it was all down to Suarez. Without Brendan's insistence on changing the style or some of his signings, the team wouldn't have come that close e.g Sturridge, Allen, Toure etc.

He's good enough to manage a big 6 club again but I don't think it'd be good for either party to reunite again.

There are some really good managers around who could be interesting replacements for when Klopp leaves. Even those that might seem at the moment left of field, are worth keeping an eye on, e.g Thomas Frank, Hasenhuttel, Potter, Favre
