i have seen jamie be our best player on the pitch many times, but i think those days are well behind him. he is definitely 4th choice CB, and too hoofy and cruchy in the tackle for a DM.

Very poorly, this could well be the end of him. Probably still be here for a season, but get very few games. His possesional skills is one of his only weaknesses as a player, but a major problem with the style installed.

To be honest, he should have never been given that contract extension by Cecil, and certainly not at £80,000 per week ... The good news is that we already have Agger, Skrtel and Coates ... I am genuinely interested to see how will Rodgers handle Wilson, Wisdom and Sama ...

I think Kelly should be given a run at CB... In my opinion he's not good enough technically to be a real attacking full back, but good enough to be a CB like Agger or Skrtel, and it was also his position in youth categories if I'm not mistaken.

I know that Kelly has played as CD in the youth ranks, but I am not sure that he can succeed there at senior level ... He looks a bit shaky in the aerial duels, and far more comfortable when he is closing the right side of the defence ... If Rodgers decides to use 3 in the back and wing-backs in certain games, Kelly might be a good option alongside Skrtel and Agger ...

Swansea didn't seem to give a **** about winning things in the air last season, still had a good defensive record. I can see Rodgers being less worried by it than most managers, especially if Lucas is DM as he is pretty good at coming back to compete in the air.

He's nowhere near good enough to be our fourth choice. Replacing him in the squad should be a top priority. He's a complete liability, worth a goal start to the opposition

I really hope he isn't first choice and realises Skrtel and Agger are the key men going forward in defence.

No chance he'll have Carragher as a first teamer, he's not an idiot. Doesn't mean he won't be an important squad member, both on and off the pitch, for him though.

I think he is making gestures to the team leaders like Carragher and Gerrard that he wants their support. I am simply saying that you saw what happens when a new manager comes in and alienates the veterans with AVB at Chelsea. So, when he says Carragher is important to his team, I assume he means his leadership and wants him on board with the project? I think Carra is past it on the pitch, but he is a vital part of the club and, I assume, the locker room, so it is good to have BR saying that he is important.

Gerrard is important because he can still do it on the pitch. What sort of 'leadership' does Carragher have to provide off the pitch? Would he personally visit each player and tell them to take heed of the Manager or he'll **** them?

The situation with Chelsea was totally different in that a. they had a lot more "veterans", and b. they still had something to contribute on the pitch, so their co-operation was still required. Even so, kow-towing to veterans for fear of the 'repercussions' is no way to run the Club.
