It's a testament to how low standards have fallen that he's racked up that many games, and tonight's game is a glaring example - he's so out of shape, gasping for air at every opportunity it would be hilarious if he was playing for somebody else.

I do agree with some of the things that BootRoom says, but he's a bit obvious.

Gomel look too fit and sharp for this to be a pre season game. They must already be into their league.

I thought it would be more than that.

Might be, but I'm not counting.

We'll settle on twelve if it makes you happy.

Brendan Rodgers believes Jamie Carragher still has much to offer at Liverpool

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers intends to talk with Jamie Carragher over extending his stay at Anfield, insisting the veteran defender still has 'a few years' left in him.

Carragher, who has notched up 719 appearances for Liverpool since making his senior debut back in 1996, is out of contract at the end of the season and has hinted he could hang up his boots.

The 34-year-old has played a bit-part role on Merseyside under Rodgers and Kenny Dalglish before him, with Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel preferred in central defence.

But Rodgers is keen to see him stay on after his deal expires and feels he still has plenty to offer.

The manager said: "He and I have had loose discussions in terms of where he is at. We spoke before Christmas and decided we'd have a chat after Christmas.

"We had a busy period coming up but there is no doubt I want him to stay as a player because he still has a lot to offer.

"It is different for defenders as well. The older you get, you are in that firing line at the back and there is no hiding place. He has been a pivotal player, a real iconic player for the club - he is still in great condition, he looks after himself.

"He turns out every single day and I'm sure there are days that are difficult for him as a player when you don't play.

"But he is a wonderful example to any player, absolutely incredible. And he has still got a few years left in him yet, for sure."

What was the Carragher myth, and was it dispelled?
                          Oh I don't know.

I`m afraid thread author got banned in the midst of dispelling numerous myths.

From what I recall in his autobiography Carra was saying that when the time comes and he can`t get into first eleven on regular basis he will consider changing the scenery. He didn`t rule out playing for Championship club as well.

IMO the best scenario would be if he agreed another 2 years on 40-50 grand p/w and played the same role as Sammi played in his last two years. His experience really is invaluable and with so many young players currently playing full backs positions but looking to move into the middle in the future(Wisdom, Kelly) Carra could help a lot to get them ready to play CB.

Reckon Carragher will get a one year contract extension.

I wonder how much Rodgers is using the appearences he is giving Carragher as an attempt to persuade him to stick around beyond this season.
