Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

      Congrats Raul

Raul Meireles was today named the PFA Fans' Player of the Year for 2010-11.

The Liverpool midfielder beat off competition from a number of other Premier League stars to scoop the accolade in his debut season in English football.

Since arriving from FC Porto in August, Meireles has established himself as a key player for the Reds, making 37 appearances and scoring five goals so far this term.

All of his goals have come since Kenny Dalglish returned to the club as manager in January, including the winner against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"Raul has always had the ability he has shown recently," commented Dalglish.

"Maybe he's settled down a little bit and is more comfortable and confident because he is playing well but there's been nothing drastic [tactically] for any of the players really.

"It is fantastic to see Raul doing so well. He has always been a talented footballer, he's always had what we are seeing now but it's been trying to get it out and it is coming out now and he's scoring goals."

Fair play to him but I thought Shaggy's post was a wind-up.

I've read the article over and over again and I still don't really understand what this award is or how he's won it

                  Nevertheless, congrats Raul

Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles has been named the ESPN PFA Fans' Player of the Year, an award voted for by Premier League supporters.

Meireles, 28, endured a difficult start to life at Anfield, seemingly struggling to adapt to life in English football after Roy Hodgson signed him from Porto last summer.

But under Kenny Dalglish the Portuguese international has flourished, scoring five goals since the turn of the year. All of those strikes came in an impressive six-game run, which helped lift the Reds from the Premier League doldrums and nto contenders for European qualification.

A dominant and dynamic boc-to-box midfielder, Meireles has emerged as a key figure for Dalglish's Liverpool and his excellent work-rate, range of passing and ability to make himself a nuisance in the opposition's penalty area should see him continue to shine next season.

Meireles, who won the February ESPN PFA Fans' Player of the Month award, beat off stiff competition from fellow monthly winners Samir Nasri (October, December, January), Dimitar Berbatov (September), Fernando Torres (November) and David Luiz (March).

Watford striker Danny Graham, who has scored 26 goals this season, took home the Championship award, while Huddersfield's Peter Clarke won the League One gong and the League Two version went to Cody McDonald - on loan at Gillingham from Norwich.

My guess is....all the monthly award winners go into the final to be voted the ESPN PFA player and the player can only be choosen from the shortlist of winners, Look below........

                                Samir Nasri (October, December, January),
                                Dimitar Berbatov (September),
                                Fernando Torres (November)
                                David Luiz (March).

Berbatov has been patchy, Torres is a cunt and Luiz has been here 2mins.....only leaves Nasri and he has had a few injuries so maybe the votes were cast mainly when Merieles went through his purple patch
