Wonder if he'll play against Sporting Lisbon.
On the one hand I think it could be good, as it’s a decent competition and a good performance against kids his own age could be a good confidence booster.
On the other hand, I can’t remember him having much of an impact last year, so getting demoted to a lower level and still struggling could be a major blow to his confidence.
Edit: Forgot about the Zenit game, so obviously he won't play.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He was woeful in that competition last season. The likes of Mcloughlin, N'goo and Suso all did much better than him. As you said, it will smash his confidence. I will stand by my opinions on him - I don't think he will make it unless he manages to get stronger and learns how to dribble without knocking the ball 10 yards forwards and then losing it.Originally posted by RedReet View PostWonder if he'll play against Sporting Lisbon.

He needs to dribble rather than knocking the ball into space and running onto it, with the Premier League being as fast and physical as it is, players with good close control are so valuable - especially for a team who's ethos focuses on keeping the ball.Originally posted by saj View PostHe was woeful in that competition last season. he has been bit overplayed IMO and has been found out a bit, defenders are learning to play him rather than the ball and he can't seem to cope with that at the moment. Ability is there and i'm sure in time we'll see a consistent, talented player.Last edited by danperkins; 18-02-13, 05:15 PM.

Being over played. He was starting games week in, week out. And it was painful watching him decline with every performance especially when we were struggling as a team. Yesterday would have been perfect for him to come on, zero pressure with the team already winning. Those are the types of appearances he needs to be getting.Originally posted by kop-al-74 View PostIn what way?My kebab comes with chilli sauce

My god there are some utter cunts in this thread slagging off Sterling.
He's just turned 18 ffs. We won't sell him but if we did ALL the clubs above us (note that makes them better) would be in for him.
Sterling is the brighest English talent in years.
Saying things like "he's been found out" or "he's only got one way of playing and that's to cut in" or "his final ball is ****" just confirms suspicions that you don't have a single clue about anything football related.
He may get injured next week, run over by a milk cart or just not quite become a world beater but some opinions on him in this thread are pathetic.
Slagging off a 18 year old kid, what has supporting Liverpool come to.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

His final ball is a bit weak. But then so was Mcmanamans. It as much a case of us finding out how best to use him as much as anything else. Mcmanaman in the middle was the most fearsome player in the Premiership, and won over the initially indifferent Madrid fans twice.
He still has to fill out a bit. He is 18!!!In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
