Lost in translation. If WE tried to sell him we WOULDN'T get £15 million. What I was saying was almost hypothetical, in that a nutter rich club come in which isn't that likely in all fairness.Originally posted by Arn View Post
If we tried to sell him then we would easily get £15m for him. It is a crazy transfer market out there. We would never sell him for £15m and we don't need to sell.
I don't think some people that laugh at my £15m valuation understand how crazy the transfer market is when it comes down to young talents.
But my interest was in whether we would let him go if that hypothetical situation arose. Obviously, no. But like others have said its tough putting a price on his head for now as its far too early. One tit for another.

I was using Walcott, Ramsey and Bale as examples of high profile young British players regarding fees. The comparison was as regards transfers experience and fees not a comparison of potential abilities. It's easy to say this guy has the potential to be world class but at the moment he has achieved nothing and has everything to prove.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostSterling has world class potential, top 3 in the world in his position potential. He's not comparable to Walcott, Ramsey or Bale IMO.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Before his 5-star performance against Southend, he was having a good season, but other players were arguably playing better. Fair enough he finished the season strongly and does look an excellent prospect, but I think some people are getting carried away with all the hype (there was actually an interesting article not long after that performance warning fans not to get carried away and expect too much too soon).
I actually went to the start of this thread to see what peoples opinions were before that performance, but it was only started half way through February, during that particular performance.
Don’t get me wrong, his progress has been impressive since he joined and he’s a serious amount of potential, but for once I’m gonna try not to get too excited and wait until he's actually broken into the first team before I get carried away.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Sterling's technique is one of the best I've ever seen from a player his age. He can place a shot from 35 yards out at full power, most players can't do that in their prime. He's got electric pace already and he's only going to get quicker over the next year. Once he grows and gets just a bit stronger, he'll be unstoppable, at any level.
My 2p.
