Yup, hopefully he does, I just think some people are getting a bit too far ahead of themselves wanting to replace the admittedly useless Downing with him right now. Understandable, but they're just being a bit hasty imo. If we handle him properly we could have a real star on our hands in a few years time, but we do need to have patience.

Suso however, if he carries on performing as he has been. will be knocking the first team door down before long. Our first team is crying out for someone with his level of vision and technical skill and I'm not so worried about his ability to adapt physically given his current level.

      .
Can't argue with that MrMichael but i'd still like him to make the odd first team appearences too Maybe Downing will learn a thing or two off him if he's still here eh

and without some signs of a chance of first team game time then these young lads will soon get itchy feet and be off, and in three years time we will be looking to buy them back for 20m

I really think this highlights a problem in English football - there is always a worry that young players will get kicked off the park and if not just out muscled/competed physically in the PL but the lower leagues are worse for the kicking at least. Sterling clearly needs proper competitive matches to help hone him but the obvious avenues seem highly problematic.

Fwiw, he really is looking quite smart again indeed after something of a lull in his development. Looks to have bulked up quite a bit, and he really does have a wonderful eye for a pass. Personally I think he might be ready for the first team at this rate before Sterling is. Sterling has a ton of raw potential but watching him I still get struck by just how young he still looks. I worry that he would get absolutely flattened in the Premiership at this stage of his development, and I think the club are worried about the same.
            A tash perhaps?

no one wants to see a young lad get volleyed off the park, but most of these lads are fast as ****, and have the pace to pass any donkey that is steaming in. the extra flair and variation that it will add to the team will hopefully allow other players to raise their game.

its definitely not just downing hating from me. i would love downing to do it, but the signs are not good, and this lad looks like a firework.

I'm not sure that you are always given the chance to receive the ball in the PL (and certainly not in the lower leagues) before being clattered which reduces the ability to use pace to avoid problems. I guess there is a real danger of over protecting players and harming their development that way at the minute.

He's similar to SWP imo. I'm sure he's already getting battered at underage level so maybe he's already used to it.

hes quick at this level but when hes playing in the epl he'll be playing against other really quick defenders so his natural pace might not be enough. then you have the scenario of young players pushing themselves too hard physically to try and make an impact whilst their bodies just arent developed fully.

i suppose owen is an example of this with his constant hamstring problems from an early age. he was just pushed in too soon and the club are playing it right with sterling. he might think he's ready for a regular role but he isnt.

That was a concern of mine too, but TBF he looked a lot quicker against Wigan than when I watch him for the reserves. Not that a 2 minute cameo is much to go on but it stands to reason that there will be more older and slower players playing first team football that what he's used to playing with kids his age.

I think Adorjan is one of the better youngsters the club have on their books, always been impressed by him.

There is sense in that. However, I do think an irregular role could help him.

I normally accept peoples opinions but on this I'll have to completely disagree - he is absolutely pants. If you look at his record, I don't think he has scored a single goal or got an assist for this season. And he has been subsituted off in virtually every game. I think it's criminal that Suso has to play on the wings just so he can play "in the hole"

cameo appearances here and there will be of real benefit to him.

build up his strength gradually and then we have a player for the long term.
