His close control and first touch are excellent, he is not just a speed merchant. Very impressed so far.

Most definitely. He is a class act alright.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

All of these things are great and they are something to build on but ultimately it is the end product he will be judged on. Not just now its not so important but after 1-2 years playing regular football you'd expect him to be weighing in with a healthy amount of assists and goals. It is to be expected of a top-class winger. To be fair though, from what I've seen so far though he's done nothing to suggest he won't be capable of that.

Also I think he has more going for him than Walcott had at the age of 17. We should sign Redmond for the right hand side and we will have two of the most exciting prospects in England playing either side.

He has an eye for the pass too.

He is still learning and adjusting to his new teammates.

For a 17-year old kid he is doing am amazingly well.

Cannot imagine our starting 11 without him atm.

Sterling* and Allen are the two main positives so far this season.

              * I'm sure his shirt said Stirling on Sunday unless my eyes are fading along with everything else at my age...

So BR had a word with the FA and asked that Sterling not play for the under 21's, but to play him in the under 19's.

Scared of over exposure BR says.

But is'nt playing him for LFC the thing that will over expose the lad if anything ?

I agree with all he says about young players, but then he'll be playing Sterling for LFC when he gets back, so i can't help feeling it's a bit contradictory with Sterling now looking like he's almost an LFC regular under BR.

Dont see anything contradicting himself really, got to look out for our interests, the under 19s only have one game which is tonight and the under 21s have two.

If it's just about game time fair enough, but over exposure ?.... "because playing for the u21's might look good on the back pages" ?

I find that a tad contradictory, it's no big deal, just didn't add up to me when as i say he plays for LFC's 1st team already.

rodgers needs to do something similar with suso.

the lad is uber talented and has the confidence / arrogance to go with it. I would play him behind the striker because of his vision and ability in tight spaces. You can see the difference between a genuine trequartista like cazorla or kagawa and gerrard who doesnt have the sharpness to play there. Thats not to say we drop gerrard because thats just wrong.

this total mess up of a transfer window might be a blessing in disguise because it means that rodgers will have to play the likes of sterling and the younger players. but when they get that chance they've got to go for it.

Suso could be the long term answer to that role but like sterling he needs a chance.

I agree. I should have added my only critisicm if I had to name one.

Ive just listened to an interview with rodgers where he used that young players run through barbed wire quote.

He specifically mentioned suso by name and said that players like him would get a chance in the first team.

I hope suso takes that chance.

Raheem Sterling has been called into the senior England squad for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier with Ukraine at Wembley.

The 17-year-old has been selected by Roy Hodgson after Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge took ill on Monday.

If Sterling figures against the Ukrainians, he'll become Liverpool's youngest-ever England international.

The winger was in action for England U19s in their 3-1 defeat to Germany last Thursday.

Sterling has made eight appearances for Liverpool's first team and started the last two Barclays Premier League games against Manchester City and Arsenal.
