Maybe we should offer that £15m profit back to Chelsea for Torres...

I'm surprised that so many people are so confident Torres would get goals, for at least the last year we've seen nothing to back that up. Yes he was fantastic for us once, but so was Michael Owen, and I wouldn't take him back either.

A number of people keep mentioning that we should stick a cheeky bid of ~£15m+ for him, given that his form is dire. People have been complaining that we were ripped off when we spent similar amounts on Downing or Henderson, but for me spending that type of money on Torres would represent a bigger gamble than the signings of Downing or Henderson, as at least they were looking good when we signed them, Torres only really shown occasional glimpses of quality in the last 12-18months.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Hard to understand what's gone wrong with him. Once the most feared striker in Europe, first name on the team sheet. Must be hard for him to take, an unused sub in a game like that. Cannot remember a player falling from grace so quickly.

It all seems mental with him, he may of lost a bit of that explosive pace over the first 10 yards he had but it doesn't explain how he looks about as useful as ade akinbiyi these days .

I think a lot of it comes from the attitudes of team mates and manager. I think people tend to underplay how well Rafa used him and kept educating/adapting his play subtly. I also think Kenny seemed to be handling him pretty well before his departure.

makes quite a bit of sense, under Rafa the team was set up for him and it worked well, since there there was the Bodge and then his move to Chelsea where he has to fit into a style and formation that doesn't seem to suit him and with his confidence apparently shot to pieces it's hard to see how he'll ever adapt.

He scored goals for Kenny though (4 in 5?), so he can't have lost "it".
I don't think AVB wants him, & Chelsea don't play in a way that best exploits his skill set. I personally think he left us 'cause he fell out with Gerrard & I don't think he gets on with the Chelsea players. However, how he's missed tap-in's for them is beyond me.

I'd still take him back, but it'd have to be for £15m tops. & he'd have to apologise on LFC TV for the things he said immediately after his move.

Torres leaving us last January was a sore one purely down to the fact that us fans worshipped him.

he said all the right things about loving the club, city etc... which we wanted to hear. i personally believe he meant every word he said but in the end he got impatient and didnt want to wait another couple of years to see LFC back cahllenging for the title. he thought (and no doubt still does) that chelsea are better equipped to challenge for the title sooner.

he looks miserable at chelsea and i fail to see how under AVB tactics he will get the goals he once did - something AVB thinks too seeing as he was 4th choice striker. come January when drogba leaves for african nations cup and anelka for china, torres will get a chance to stake his claim. however, it will only be 3 weeks as if he isnt doing the job for them AVB will splash the cash on a new striker before the window closes . . . . . no doubt leaving torres down the pecking order again. I think this, i wager a number of fans think this and i'll stake a claim that Torres thinks this too.

Class is permanent - Form is temporary . . . . although in torres case the form has been 9 months long! i think he will come good, whether that is at chelsea or elsewhere.

could it be back with us? i dont know but given that torres never really gave Kenny's team / tactics a chance its an educated guess on that subject. personally, i think he would do well back here - not to the level he set first time around when the team was set up to play to his strengths, but still a 10-15 league goal a year standard.

would i want him back? not sure. i was dead against the idea for a long long time. but recently, i cant help but shake the feeling that if the fans got behind him, the players welcomed him back and kenny found a way to integrate him into a more "pass and move" way of playing then he could finally be the "missing link" we hear about that takes up to number 19.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.
