At this rate he ain't pushing Allen down the pecking order, it's Lucas that'll be suffering.

If wonder if internet forums had been around to the extent they are now back in 2000, what the reaction to the Gary McAllister signing would've been.
Up until we signed him, he'd played for Leeds and Coventry. His list of honours read 1 league winners medal (the old first division) and one charity shield. He was 36 (I think) at the time we signed him.
Milner has been at City for the last 5 years, where he's won the league twice, the FA Cup, the league cup and a charity shield. He is 29.
Find it odd that when it's pretty clear we need to bolster the experience in our squad, that people would turn their nose up at him.

That's a fair point though. Ultimately this signing would need to be judged in context at the end of the window.

I think there aren't that many who are turning their noses up at him though? But the combination of our targets is not what most want to see and it's not likely to change our position in the table. Milner is fine on his own, although at reported 150k a week you do wonder if he's the best we can get for that money. Ings, Clyne and Benteke are not likely to catapult us further and if everyone if fit I struggle to see huge improvements in the team.Originally posted by Reece View PostIf wonder if internet forums had been around to the extent they are now back in 2000, what the reaction to the Gary McAllister signing would've been.

Mig
Clyne - Skrtel - Sakho - Moreno
Milner - Coutinho - Henderson
Sturridge - Benteke - Sterling
As opposed to:
Mig
Johnson - Skrtel - Sakho - Moreno
Lucas - Henderson - Coutinho
Ibe - Sturridge - Sterling* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I can only imagine that the plan must be 433. I imagine Milner would play in the middle 3 with Hendo & one of Lucas/Allen at this point. Would probably mean Couts ends up wide in a front three, though there is the option to change to a front two with him at the tip.
I would guess then that Benteke would be the central striker.
What I wouldn't want is a 4231 with Milner in the DM role with another.Forwards.......

FLMAO if Brendan stays you can bet your life that this will be the plan for the first 4 months of the seasonOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI can only imagine that the plan must be 433. I think it could be a 4-4-2 diamond, with Henderson and Milner/Coutinho in the middle, with Milner/Coutinho playing off Benteke and Origi/Sturridge/Ings.
Coutinho has show he can play in the deeper, and said in an interview last year that Rodgers see his position there, so Milner could play further forward.
