He's a good player, my only concern is that City fans I've spoken to do rate him but say he's better out wide than in the middle - which is where he apparently wants to play.
It'll be interesting to see how we set up with him in the team.
I'd suggest something like:
Henderson - Can - Milner
With Can as the deep lying DM/Playmaker. It's not the flashiest of midfields, but it has plenty of running and workrate which is what we need if we want to go back to the high pressure/tempo game we were playing the season before last.

That would be the logical thing looking at our squadOriginally posted by Muddled View PostI wonder if Rodgers' thoughts are around a Can, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho diamond?
As much as I'd like Lucas sat there, I think he's off.
However no doubt we will see Can at centrehalf and Milner at right-wingback so he can accomodate Allen

I've said it before, the diamond is a very strong possibility given the success we had with Suarez, Sterling, and Sturridge. Henderson and Milner can press and work the wide areas too, but Can will need to learn the role of DM. I wouldn't want to see Coutinho shunted out wide in a 4-3-3.Originally posted by Muddled View PostI wonder if Rodgers' thoughts are around a Can, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho diamond?

A really good signing - bolsters the midfield, hard worker, can be used in many positions, has years and years worth of experience and is still a relatively young player. Best of all though, he's coming because he wants to play and isn't content with picking up cash to sit on a bench - he'll be motivated too.
Well in. A proper upgrade to the engine room!

Thats it for me. Most of the players we sign this summer should be an upgrade to what we currently have in the First 11. Milner will be.
*Except Michael, who died.

I can't help but be a bit meh about it because Ive never really rated Milner.
Does seem to be a bit of a late bloomer though so hopefully we get a couple of good years out of him. And he works hard, which is nice.
We need to add some real quality to this though its a decentish start but if the next two through the door are Benteke and Clyne for £50m we could have problems. The times they are a changin'.

I agree with all that. Like you say, I think he would need to learn that role; His tendency to roam - highlighted towards the end of this season - would leave us horribly exposed. Done right, there is bags of energy and industry in the middle of the park and it would provide Coutinho with almost a free role to cause a mischief.Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostI've said it before, the diamond is a very strong possibility given the success we had with Suarez, Sterling, and Sturridge. I think the world and its mother knows the kind of players and kind of summer the club needs right now.
This is Step No. 1 in the road back to the top 4 and its a very strong one.
Lets give the club some credit here, this is a great signing.
Now Lets see who signs next.Anybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015

I saw a rumour that it's 150k. a week.Originally posted by Scratch View PostAny rumours of what his wages will be...With Gerrard and Johnson going I'm guessing the wages went down by about 250k a week, so how much of that will be eaten up by Milner coming in?* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
