The Milner as 1st choice LB with Moreno as backup which seems to be the situation is odd, Chilwell being the only player we've bid for seems odd as well. I could maybe understand it if Klopp really rates him and saw him making an immediate impact even if he had to hold off until January, but with Chilwell signing a new contract that seems unlikely.

I can only assume he seems Gomez (or someone) as an option there.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Not quite what I had in mind, but maybe a stepping back and trying to see the bigger picture before then venting on the forum....almost every thread on here, bar the Mane one, seems to be moaning at team selections, player treatment, the eternal LB conundrum....has the early season blues really set in after only 3 games, is there absolutely zero positivity left at all?

My guess is that he has an idea of who he wants, but that avenue isn't available right now. However, spending money on another player will limit his options in the next window/s so he is, rather than buying second choice, waiting until first choice is available and in the mean time relying on Milner/Moreno and possibly Klavan and Gomez to cover at LB.

Whether that is a mistake, or whether the player (Milner) will adapt, is yet to be seen. Same with Wijnaldum, Klopp must see something there, that warrants his selection in CM, but after 3 games we seem to have written the lad off and are crying out for a DM. Give the lad a chance to find his feet, that's all.

The weird thing is a think Antonio Valencia is a cracking full back albeit attacking so converting older wingers does work. Think is Milner was never really a winger and lacks pace to make a good job of that position nevermind experience.

We have to pay for redevelopment somehow.

Technically, ground improvement is excluded from ffp. Unless cash is tight or we are borrowed to our limits... which I find very hard to believe.

When is Gomez due back? Maybe Klopps seen enough of him to think that he's the long term answer and until then we can use Moreno and Milner.

Mad isn't it? For all his flaws, we've not had a reliable LB since him.

                        Arbeloa was reliable.

Yeah he was, but he was a right back even if he had quite a long spell on the left. Likewise Johnson did well on the left for us quite a number of times albeit with less regularity.

I've only watched one game with Milner left-back (vs Spurs) and I think bar that one error (which typically led to a goal) he was fine.

In fact, I think he'll improve in that position the more he plays.
