A sore foot, but nothing to worry about. On painkillers all week, apparantly, so his running was inhibited.

I know we've had a good start but wins like those two can paper over cracks, and it can unravel quite quickly, and I'm afraid that's where I'm at. Some of Brendan's decisions - selections, substitutions and use of certain players - are baffling me.

There was a suggestion we wont go with a dedicated holding / deeper player but rather rely on game intelligence and them filling in when needed
Not convinced thats the way to go, it creates too much uncertainty imo
One thing that did impress me last night was Milners work second half and also him talking players and telling them to move into certain positions

That is/would be a shame.Originally posted by Nigey View PostLooks like he's gonna miss the match on Monday.
I know people are concerned that playing Henderson as it is limits his influence but the flipside is that we have only conceded 3 shots on target in our first two games (source = Guardian podcast). So the Milner/Henderson axis has done and excellent defensive job.
Whole team balance and particularly Benteke/Coutinho need to improve in the attacking third. If we end up with more of a conventional 4-3-3 formation as many predicted before the season it will be interesting to see who gets shifted where."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Lucas would be totally lost against Arsenals quick midfield, as he was last year against them. We need pace and pressing in midfield, not Lucas. Can will get there but has been slow to get back to speed, which is why Henderson is doing a job for the team.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostIt's a bit like last season, he seems intent on not using Lucas or Sakho and rather playing bombscare at any cost or Henderson a little bit out of position limiting his effectiveness. A midfield of
Lucas
Milner Henderson
would be very good with Emre coming in there as well, but with Lucas out of the picture we're short, again, in midfield. These two points will be the undoing of Rodgers IMO, sooner rather than later.

If that's true then I might guess that the centre backs might have played their part too. Which kinda challenges the prevailing fan narrative.Originally posted by dww View Postthe flipside is that we have only conceded 3 shots on target in our first two games (source = Guardian podcast).Oh I don't know.
