Yep pretty much every match I watched over the weekend was a borefest

Perhaps you should stay in bed until October.

I thought most were very ordinary (as were Stoke)

I laughed my balls off when they gave the MOM to Coutinho because it pretty much summed up the whole game. Dour and dire but lit up by 1 moment of magic
Clyne & Gomez done well, Coutinho was poor but that goal was amazing. Lovren and Skrtel did ok but yeah it wasn't a game full of amazinf performances that's for sure.

To be fair though you couldn't pick many good performances from anyone from Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs & United. Maybe travelling around the world and playing in pre season competitions isn't the best way to prepare for opening day? We got 3 points out of one of the most difficult fixtures outside of the top 4, it was a great result.. so I don't really care about the first day lethargic showing. Hopefully we can improve in the coming games.

West Ham probably gave the best performance of the weekend and they've been playing competitive footy for a month.

Even then, what did they create? A set piece goal and a thirty yarder, Cech should have sorted both out. After that they sat back and defended well.

Stoke fans are probably taking more from that than we should

Since his Liverpool debut in the Premier League, only Steven Gerrard (25) has more Premier League assists for Liverpool than Jordan Henderson (22).

Henderson has 10 assists in the Premier League since the start of last season; more than any other English player.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Makes no sense that we would use him as the deepest lying midfielder. Does Brendan not watch how that works out for Hodgson, Henderson and England? He's a shadow of himself when he's not allowed to drive forward. I don't get it. Rather Lucas anchoring and let whoever do their stuff ahead of him. I know we've had a good start but wins like those two can paper over cracks, and it can unravel quite quickly, and I'm afraid that's where I'm at. Some of Brendan's decisions - selections, substitutions and use of certain players - are baffling me.

Agreed he's wasted there. As well as that, I hope we keep winning but I hope if we don't we haven't sold Sakho before Brendan gets the bullet. Mad that he can't even get on the bench.

I'm torn right now, I obviously want us to win every game and achieve something significant this season. I would get rid of Rodgers tomorrow if it was down to me.

I've felt like that for a while, however with the difficult fixture list for the first 10 games, he seems to have focussed on defensive rigidity as a unit, which was my biggest bugbear, it conspires that the 1st big test will be next Monday night.

I've mellowed towards removing him, but he has to have results...no mulligans.

I think the current formation is to accommodate new players in. Can will play that central role in the weeks to come.

We will need to improve against Arsenal.
                              Are we winning?

If hendo is out of the Arsenal game, that will likely mean Can and Milner start at the base. A shame because we are still yet to that trio properly together.

Don't think Coutinho or Lallana will do the defensive part of the game enough to be at the tip of the midfield against Arsenal. Firmino might get the nod but I'd be tempted to bring Markovic onto the bench at the very least.

He has pace and will put in a shift. Let Coutinho play left of the forward. Ibe and Lallana probably need a break.
