Youd think we was still looking, even without the two mentioned going. All the noises from Klopp and the squad was that players were needed.
I reckon a little of it has been eased by Jones and Bajectic being a bit viable now for the first team though.
I’m hoping this is short term pain and our hand is forced to radically shake things up - a few signings of the ilk of Mac and Szob and we might look back on this season as a real turning point
Proper tin foil hat time, but with Newcastle getting a top 4 spot and obviously wanting to now keep it, is it a bit if a coincidence that the Saudi league is targeting Liverpool's experience in midfield with only a few weeks left before the new season starts? Seems an easy way to destabilise the team....
And now a 50m bid from Al-Hilal for Diaz apparently
Perhaps Henderson can engage with their culture and try to moderate things to some degree. Someone has to risk sticking their neck out to change things.
I remember football stadiums in this country used to not be as welcoming to people of different skin colours or nationalities. But things changed over time.
The saudis just don’t care. A lot of their beliefs genuinely come through their interpretation of their dominant religion.
It’s something that westerners don’t get as well because we have long been part of increasingly secular societies.
It’s backwards and sad but they won’t be changing for a footballer.
Football stadiums across the world are still not that welcoming of people of different backgrounds or colours or sexuality, including in England.

Well you are certainly doing your bit to help with that then

There are close to six weeks left in the transfer window and this marlarky might be the nudge Klopp and his team need to push for a player coming in this window that they might have been happy to wait until the next window for.
Think we might see a move made in the transfer market by the time we are ready to leave Germany and a new player then flying out to join the squad in Singapore.
Tbh even if we got someone, another midfielder I mean, in on the final day of the window I would not be at all annoyed over it as it would mean we further bolstered our ranks.
My typo didn't help
Yeah it may have forced his hand, although it would worry me that even after what happened last season, Jurgen still didn't feel the need to bolster than midfield even further in this window.
It seems that Klopp likes to get players in early, get them acclimatized our our system and way of playing. If it turns out that we have basically changed most of our midfield which I do like but it does represent a risk, it would have been nice to do this a wee bit earlier in the window and give the lads coming in time to adjust and get the lay of the land. We have Chelsea & Newcastle away in our opening 3 games, not much room for forgiveness there unfortunately. IMO it's drama we didn't need.
The more mins arguments falls flat on its arse when of all the clubs in the world he could potentially go to "for more mins", this is the one that peaks the most interest. I wonder why, maybe he was a boyhood fan and has dreamed of playing for them? Maybe he wants to enact change in Saudi for the better one paycheck at a time?
If he doesn't go the PR spin should be interesting and if he does go, he's going to get pelter. Either way it's tarnished his rep and puts a real spanner in the world for us this late in the window.
Think the opposite on the highlighted bit tbh.

The "leaving for more minutes" angle is a funny one because last season "Al Hendo" adherents were using the excuse that "The Plan" was to use "Al Hendo" more sparingly (how they came to know of this plan is unknown), but because of injuries etc, we ended up using him much more. It also puts the kibosh on the idea of "Al Hendo" being happy to play the role Super Captain behind the scenes while not playing much.
I just wish we knew this at the start of the window. When there was talks that he was going to be the new Milner, I was thinking would rather he was moved on and Milner got another year… but Henderson had 2 years left in his contract, so… I wonder if the club knew this was coming, would milner have gotten a new contract.
I also wish it was done sooner, for squad harmony. It can’t be good for morale when they’re off at training camp and the captain’s trying to leave the club. I wish they’d just announce a new captain now. Even if he ends up staying, I think a new captain would make sense- someone who’s playing every week, and someone who wouldn’t rather be somewhere else.
I don’t blame Henderson if he’s looking for a big pay day to end his career, but he needs to deal with the consequences- one of which should be losing the captaincy.
