Isnt it the catalyst for Edwards leaving? Wasnt that suggested? That he was overridden on something like this and decided it was time to look elsewhere?

Really exciting times, just really hope the deal is completed now. Think Klopp will be secretly delighted also!
Spot on, except for the last sentence - I think Klopp would love it if "Al Hendo" had a change of heart and decided to stay.

could well be... he did make a last minute play to try and convince him to stay according to some sources, so maybe it's an amicable/expected parting of the ways.

Klopp also can't be seen to let his head go down with the rest of the squad and new lads coming in. He's in 'Anthea Turner' mode and needs to be full or smiles, energy and excitable for the future... at least on the outside.

    New season, new challenge.
This just makes it a bit tougher...

    His epitaph will read

"Here lies Jordan Henderson, he ****ing loved wearing an armband, well, he did until July 23"

I get that some people are massively disappointed by Hendo going to Saudi for bucket loads of cash. It's more for the human rights issues than the sheer greed that pains. It's not a good look after being so vocal against it for so long to them about face and jump in with both feet for £700k a week.

However, all of football is massively corrupt. The Saudis are just the latest flavour and everyone's getting hot under the collar about them. They've just brought the corruption out into the open, front and centre, waving exorbitant amounts of cash around like a flag in people's faces.

Until FA, UEFA, FIFA grow some balls and do some self-awareness themselves... the corruption will simply escalate. All football bodies have been massively corrupt for decades (some far less openly than others) and now it's extreme wealth of club owners and the lack of due diligence for ownership (turning a blind eye thanks to huge envelopes packed with cash).

Hendo should have left a club legend, but he's invariably tarnished that mantle for many. His actions now look shallow and self-serving, despite his years of dedication to the LFC club and values. It's a massive shame. But then, Gerrard and Fowler are just as culpable on the moral argument. We have some money to reinvest, but it definitely leaves a sour taste in the mouth dealing with Saudi clubs.

Klopp and the transfer committee just have to deal with this situation as best they can - we may secure our top targets, we may have to settle for placeholders for a season or two to get numbers up. They'll do what they can with the time/bargaining power they have at their disposal. I doubt FSG offering ridiculous amounts of money would affect things too much as we still won't overpay for hyper-inflated, mediocre players. I'm all for paying what we need to for exactly the right player profile Klopp wants though.

Anyway, rant over - **** the Saudis and all their suppressive policies. Let's just focus on the positives of Macca, Szobo, Trent's form, Diaz and Jota being back.. we have a solid squad and potential for further new recruits to improve it again. It is what it is. We all know that, ultimately.

Reading the responses in this thread its pretty funny how people just fill in the blanks to support their own narrative

Electric cars, oppressive regime, gay rights, stick it in a thread

Anyway, he needed to go because he was really struggling.
I wonder if him and klopp have discussed Jordans demise and realised he really is finished at LFC and this way of getting out was the best for all parties.
Finally klopp has removed his blinkers, maybe the dof has been telling him some hard truths that all of klopp other yes men didn't have the balls to mention.

Yeh, too much too soon, but again that's down to klopp and the club not using the revolving door as often as it should have been used.

Most people would agree that there are human rights issues in China and India but continue to buy electrical goods and clothes that are made in those countries. All of us would agree that the Sun newspaper and its owner are morally bankrupt but most have probably subscribed to Sky/Foxtel at some point.

Anyway, I think Henderson has been a brilliant servant and captain of our club. He also hasn’t been afraid to voice opinions on player welfare, racism, gay/lesbian issues and concerns with the last World Cup. He’s made a difference. Hopefully he’ll continue to make a difference. Good luck to him. Now’s the right time for him to leave. We get good money (more than we got for Bobby and Wijnaldum) which can be reinvested in new players.
He was concerned with the last World Cup but still went and played. Lots of fans said that they'd boycott it and then watched. It's his decision to live with and I'm sure he'll be fine as he collects the keys to his Bugatti and boards his private jet to the Caribbean
