So long Jordan Brian Henderson…….didn’t think it’d be this way tbh. His PR lads are going to have to spin this one big time for him to emerge untarnished from this move
It is when you factor in the materials and energy required to manufacture a replacement. Further considerations are the rare earth metals and other minerals that need to be dug up to go into the EV batteries plus (potentially) all the coal that needs to be burnt to generate the electricity needed to run an EV.
Taking these factors into account, often keeping your current motor for longer will be the lower emission option.
EV batteries don’t contain rare earth metals, as for the coal burning you make a splendid case for increased investment in renewables.
