I'm made up for him more than any other player, he's taken a lot of stick from all directions (fans, pundits, other players and managers) but he's come through it and developed as a player, person and captain, he's a leader both on and off the pitch the guy is a legend

Joins an exclusive list of LFC captains only Emlyn Hughes, Phil Thompson, Graeme Souness and now Jordan Henderson have lifted both the European Cup and the League as captain
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Just look at last night in the VVD interview that got mobbed, He was like 'here comes the main man now' For better players to acknowledge him just shows the man he is.

Also shows what a humble and class act VVD is.

I don’t see the others such as Van Dijk as ‘Better players’ tbh. Look at the effort Hendo puts in, he must run harder and faster than any other player in the team. Always making a nuisance of himself winning the ball and helping direct play. Every player in the team has a job, remove one part and the team doesn’t function.

I think Jordan leads in actions and words now. He leads by example on the pitch and is incredibly humble off it.

Clearly he is hugely respected within the group.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I agree that Hendo is just as important to us... but also see red g’s point- VVD was only narrowly (and wrongfully) beaten to the ballon dor. If (god forbid) Liverpool put them both up for sale any team in the world who could afford him would want big virg..

That’s not to diminish Hendo’s value to the team- he has been the best player in the league this year! So happy for him to be the captain to lift the trophy after all this time..

Wasn't wrong about his role though was i? Bought to play as a RM player for us. Don't think the player himself even knew what role he was meant to play when he first got here. There is not one single LFC fan that honestly thought Hendo could get to these heights especially after the first few years. I'm sure everyone single person that ever criticised him are over the moon to have been proven very wrong. Myself included.

It has been a rough ride and taken him years to grow into the fantastic CM he is today & grow out of Stevie's shadow as a CM. The last 2 years have been nothing short of world class and imo the biggest improvement from a footballer I can ever remember. I also questioned his role as a captain too originally and he has proved me and many others massively wrong.

Aye it wasn't unreasonable to wonder what he was all about.

At the time I had my season ticket on the front row of the Lower Cent, and saw him at very close quarters. For a while him and Shelvey were scrapping over one place in the side, and for a while it was either / or and sometimes one would come on for the other.

Henderson was meek, quiet and absolutely bereft of confidence. He looked completely lost sometimes. Then Shelvey would come on, strutting about, cocksure as ****, demanding the ball off the likes of Suarez and Gerrard, not always being brilliant but showing flashes, with raking long passes etc. The contrast was incredible -and based on that element alone, there was only one of them going to kick on and really make it, and it wasn't Henderson.

                      Amazing how things turn out.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

                        absolutely

It's been a miraculous turn around & it did look grim his first few seasons. It's quite incredible to look at what he has become now. Getting what he deserves, top class footballer & captain, also seems like a really nice bloke aswell

Too nice, that was his problem, he had to dig down and find his mongrel when he needed it on the pitch.

Thats been his difference. His skills haven't changed, but his attitude has.

Yeah, you were totally right to start a thread to write him off after his first game.

And the comment was in response to the general theme of how far Henderson has come, just happened to be you were the original poster.

Read a few other posts, and looks like John Doe of all people was quite the visionary when it came to Hendo.

It's a great story though isn't it. Would be rubbish(boring) if we'd paid £50m for him, he'd come in and bossed it from day 1.

I've stuck up for him a lot, you could always sense he had something in him. But anyone who says they never had doubts is lying. He has improved every year into the best version of himself. Thats what makes him so special.

Imagine how widely ridiculed anyone anyone would have been had posted 'this is the guy who will lift both the CL and Prem within 12 months' after he had been here a couple of seasons. None of us saw that in him.
