They are not counter positions involving hypocrisy. Firstly, this is all of his making, whatever the ultimate outcome. He’s currently being criticised for trying to leave his contract with us agains the wishes of the club to join a sport washing project for financial gain (prick). If it doesn’t happen because his chosen destination are unable to afford the modest fee, he will be criticised for having instigated and unviable transfer and undermining his own position going forward with fans, the club and teammates (prick). Both perfectly valid criticisms.

And it’s not just his ‘haters’ that will be critical of the outcome. And the only thing funny about him unilaterally undermining the clubs plans will be the unnecessary self inflicted damage to his legacy with the club and its fan base.

But for some, it wouldn't have mattered where he was going or what the circumstances, he'd be damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

It is unfortunate that he has chosen to go down this path and unfortunate that he will have tarnished his reputation with many who weren't 'haters' and have genuine reason to be upset.

But from my online (and even real life) experience, there are a lot more people fall into the first category they will criticise Henderson about issues they genuinely don't give a sh*t about and they too will be most vocal with their criticism if he does end up staying. For that reason, I will find it amusing to see them get upset, without worrying myself about the deeper impacts on the club, which is a different conversation all together.

Of course he is. To be honest like a lot of our players i don't love him nor hate him - the club is the only entity i really care about. Most of the players are there for the gig, i'd probably include Henderson in that - i don't know him personally so can't be sure - nor do i care.

The club is what i care about, Henderson is going to offer little going to offer little going forward. So the best outcome for me is we get a modest fee of 10-20m, free up some wages and move forward. If anything it could herald a dawn of being a little bit more ruthless with players (although we're told Henderson instigated this move and Klopp offered his approval).

This is where I'm at with this, I would have liked Henderson to stay and have played the Milner role for a few years. He is clearly not at the level he once was but he has been a great captain and a good player for us, but I believe still has something to offer. I can understand the desire to leave for more game time and I think had he been stepping down a level e.g. Going to a championship club or something in light of what he had done for the club we might have been willing to cancel his contract and forego a fee or at least take a lower fee than we might be looking for now to allow it. But a seeming desire to go to Saudi seems like it is mainly motivated by one thing - money, yes you imagine he will get the game time he wants as well but he could also have got that other places as well. I can understand the desire to go somewhere that you can get paid 3 or 4 times your current salary for the same job is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It just seems like the destination and the way that this has been handled ends his 'role' as and LGBTQ+ ambassador and taints his legacy at the club which I for one am sad about.

The Chairman of the club is a huge LFC fan, he posts pictures of himself at Anfield all the time. Nobody else would be stupid enough to go after Gerrard and Henderson to be fair

Maybe he will who knows.

My guess would be that the Saudi's will be aware of his views and will have spoken about it. Given the clubs reported links to the establishment and Royal family I imagine that it would be very embarrassing for them as a club/owners to have a player express such views, maybe I am wrong but I would imagine that the club would have been keen to seek assurances that he keeps his views to himself. But maybe I am wrong...

From what has been reported about other players that have moved, their families live in Dubai or Bahrain ( where they can do more western type things like drink, wear less clothes etc more freely within their areas) and the players then commute into Saudi for the footy stuff.


Plus we have heard plenty of guff about how this player or that pundit is going to use their high profile to help bring about change/tolerance once they set foot in the Middle East.

Can remember Gary Neveille, Steven Gerrard, Gary Linekar and many others giving interviews in the UK before they went to the last sports wash world cup as pundits or brand "ambassadors" about how they were going to use their time there to highlight issues. Lots of players saying they would wear the one love armband despite being told not to. Brave Harry Kane wearing it for photo shoots before going over.

Did not watch the world cup myself but from what was said afterwards all the guys who talked a big talk beforehand said nothing whilst over there.

Only person that seems to have had any balls over at that sham of a tournament was one that was born without any.
