His career under Klopp is no fluke and the plaudits he now gets are well earned. If the best football manager in the world thinks you are good enough to captain what is one of, if not the, best team in the world then you must be of a level to reflect the quality of that manager and team imo.

Think there could be an arguement made for Henderson being one of the best captains in the history of the club and certainly the best by some distance that we have had during the PL era.

Think it is only now that he is getting back to that thing of being replaceable (as nailed on starter that is) and that is only due to time starting to catch up with him a bit and the Milner role looking more and more likely for him in the coming seasons.
    Agreed.

The passing of time means he may start to be less of a starter, but again I dont see that happening until we have a replacement. His job as a captain is also one we will need a succession plan on.

It is a good point that you make re. Klopps opinion. There is no place for passengers in this team, and Hendo has captained us to insane runs of victories and points totals whilst being viewed as such by some.

Supporters feel they have to make one change in every team, to be able to input and suggest 'hpw things could be better'. This ignores many intricacies of life and sport, but, I guess, without this need to offer an opinion there is no space for forums such as this.

We have been not far short of perfection for multiple seasons now. For my part I have barely been able to suggest a single thing we should/could have done better over that period. If it were that easy to be successful and win trophies then everyone would be doing it.

One bad decision can have a knock on effect to create another and another. The culture and ethos of the club is set by Klopp, but enforced by Henderson.

We have been (and still are) so lucky to witness them both.

What he does do though is lead by example and marshall the team, and he does that naturally very very well

My thinking was that he has been as impressive on the pitch at times as he has been off of it.

No he is not our best player in the way Salah is in attack or VVD is at the back, but he has, under Klopp in particular, always been a player who is at the same level as the team is and that has been a pretty high level. He has not looked out of place when it comes to the players around him.

I only mentioned the off pitch side of things because of how good and on point he has been at that since getting the armband.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

          I wonder.

He does do most of the media work backing up Hendo. I am sure I read that Trent has been voted into the management group within the team, but he doesn’t seem ready yet.

I suspect we are a couple of seasons away from this at least and Virgil as back up captain until then.

VVD seems lime the natural successor to Hendo to me.

Its useful having lots of "captains" in the team, but you are better off with central players being the actual captain as they can be in tbe thick of **** when it goes down without being caught out of position.

I see the Hendo debate is going into overdrive on Twitter again, comp videos of his performance on Saturday. For me he struggled on the ball, fast technical games don’t suit him and he coughed up possession a lot (70% pass rate) by forcing balls. I noticed it watching the game and I was on his case from the comfort of the sofa We are at a bit of a cross roads with him now - I think he is best suited as the 6 (Fab back up) and the 8 against certain opponents.

For the real high intensity games where you technique needs to be spot on (City, Spurs, Chelsea) I think he struggles as the right sided 8 - this is our creative outlet and he hasn’t got it. Elliott was much better at keeping the ball when he came on

I’ve made my thoughts clear about Hendo the footballer vs Hendo the captain/hood guy/leader etc - we’ve 10 excellent players and one decent one in Klopp’s preferred 11

In this exclusive extract from Jordan Henderson's forthcoming autobiography, the Liverpool skipper highlights how much things have changed at Anfield since his first pre-season in 2011.

At Kirkby now, and Melwood before it, standards are ridiculous. I've never seen anything like. Every minute of every day, everybody is on it. Players, staff, everybody. But it wasn't always like this.

I joined in June 2011 and during my first pre-season the lads had two nights away, which was my first proper introduction to the squad. I'd joined Liverpool Football Club, I was in absolute awe, and I was expecting standards to be the sort of level I'd never seen before.

And so a few days after I signed, we had a couple of nights away in Blackpool and I was put in a room with Charlie Adam and Joe Cole.

In our hotel room before the first night out, I got showered and ready to go out. I was in the bathroom liberally applying some Joop when I could smell smoke, piercing through my Joop's alluring cinnamon notes. I stuck my head out of the bathroom and Joe and Charlie were blatantly flouting the no-smoking rule, leaning out of the window puffing away non-stop. Charlie was swigging white wine straight from the bottle, and Joe had a bottle of vodka and he was rubbing it into his eyeballs. They were laughing like maniacs, saying "**** that nerd Carragher, let's get bollocksed!"

I went into the corridor to call Stewie Downing. I was like "Stew, is this normal? I can't believe it". Stewie came running down and came into the room to see for himself. When we both walked in Charlie was throwing up into the bathroom sink while Joe laughed, and coughed, and laughed, and coughed, with his hands on his hips, unable to get his breath, seemingly coughing and spluttering himself to death. As we left the room, Stewie asked me if he should tell the gaffer, and started to cry.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
