We are having to rely on him far too much, and have been since the start of the year. Having him as an option is perfect. We still get his quality (yes he has that, rewatch the game and note the through ball to Salah minutes before we scored the first) and leadership, but we don’t need to rely on him.

I think we were all expecting him to transition towards being an option this season, injuries have dictated otherwise.

It is really Fabinho at fault for that goal. VVD is dragged out wide and Fabinho covers for him at CB. When Henderson makes that partial-interception and it falls to Longstaff, Fabinho should just stay at CB. Instead his DM instincts kick in and he vacates his CB position to press Longstaff leaving a huge gap for Longstaff to play the ball into Isak. Not much Henderson could have done really.

Fabinho by the way is also way off his best at the moment (as as several others including Hendo).

Definitely. It just has to be physical and mental fatigue. I think City annoyingly got it right with their light pre-season. We did the opposite and we're paying for it. The number of hamstring injuries we're getting backs this up IMO.
