I do think several of our players have a past of showing for passes from defence (Lucas, Milner, to differing degrees Lallana and Coutinho too). Toure has been dominant in the air in the past too. If we had other options I was confident of I wouldn't be advocating it, but we don't.

Long term I think it is a shame that we didn't keep either Wisdom or Illori, even if only to rule them out or in as possible solutions.

For me what we really need is a partnership - even if it is not of the best individual defenders. I'd say there is a chance that no one at the club now will be first choice next season.
It's a fair point, as I say I think Toure-Sakho is probably the best option we have for the next game, given the number of mistakes others have been making recently Toure does deserve a chance. Like you say we need a partnership and to be honest if we go into next season with a first choice partnership made up of 2 from Sakho, Skrtel, Lovren and Toure I would be disappointed. Sakho is a decent player, but I wouldn't be surprised if any of the others were moved on in the summer.

As you say it's a shame Wisdom and Ilori are out on loan because this would have been a chance for one of them, although to be honest I'm not convinced either will make it here in the near future, but you don't know until you try the likes of Flanagan came from nowhere so anything is possible.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Hopefully the Toure/Sakho partnership can tide us over until the Jan window. Not sold on Matip to be honest when i've seen him. Schalke have been pretty poor defensively for years now. Matip is great in the air from what i've seen but switches off alot. He's huge guy, maybe 6'5-6'6ft.

I did read a scouting report on him awhile back saying that his defensive positioning wasn't great and he has better potential as a midfielder. Not exactly the thing you wanna hear. I'll try and find it, was last year sometime. Anything i've watched him after reading this, it does resemble some truth.

It does seem a position in the modern game that there are not too many stand out players in the world right now. If we could have a our pick of any CB's in world football right now, there aren't exactly too many out there that really stand out.

It's interesting that Klopp spoke of keeping things simple which is exactly what Lovren has been doing.

5 out of 7 that Lovren and Sakho have started have been clean sheets. Apparently.

Was wondering how long it's would take you Chris mate.

Can't argue with one game out one clean sheet though, even with the defence looking a bit Benny Hill at times.

                Good stat.

And the first time Leicester have failed to score in the league this season.

Didn't see the game but guess the defence were in a line more often than not?

He's getting on now so I reckon it's time for a new defender. Hopefully Gomez recovers well to be a fourth choice CB.

There were some moments of panic, but on the whole they were ok. Lovren was decent, mainly keeping it simple. It was mainly Sakho causing the panic!

Id like to see these two get a run of games and it sounds like they will due to injuries.

Certainly the most comfortable our back 4 has been in quite a while.

No they all had their own lines cos that's how you defend apparently.

Back 4 and the keeper were good today and worked well as a unit.

Few moments here and there but we were playing the top of the table side who've rolled pretty much every team they've played over

Indeed ! Dropping off though is how to defend properly though. Make sure you're 5 yards behind the line, it's what all the world beaters through the years have done
