I don't understand the way people come here and slag our players off. Skrtel is one of our longest serving players, arrived relatively cheaply and has always been one of few who wants to fight, and put his body on the line.

Clearly he isn't performing at a level that we need, and he loses his head at times, and it is time to go. But personally I would just thank him for his time at the club and part ways.

These guys are humans and most of the time giving their all for the club, and i think we forget that sometimes.

It's tough cos he's become a liability for us but I find it difficult to really dislike long serving players. His reaction the other week as he sat in his box when we scored was great, he went mental and not a lot of players show that. He was our player of the year by a mile a few years ago, and had a very good season in 13/14 when he scored 7 goals.

I feel a bit sorry for him, getting absolute dog's abuse on social media and the fans forums...but there's no doubt we've gotta get rid of him and I don't want to see him in the team again.

Klopp's job is always getting a bit more harder, having to get rid of Kolo, Skrtel, Mignolet, Allen and Benteke in the summer will be a tall order. Lovren is probably safe(ish), Moreno is walking a tightrope but Klopp will have to prioritize, he can't sell everyone.

Whilst not wishing to defend Skrtel didnt City try to sign him a couple of years back??

Is that supposed to be an endorsement of his quality? if anything it proves he isn't good enough -
Demichelis, Otamendi, Mangala, Nastasic, Savic.

That's without going back to PL proven Toure and Lescott.

I don't understand the fume, Skrtel has played under 5 managers in 7-8 years and while even I'll happily admit there have been good patches of form during that time what average score would you give him over that period?

6/10? is probably fair, which is nowhere near good enough to stay at lfc for 8 years imo, let alone play regularly.

No goals scored and defending properly to help us win more games should be the criteria, if you chip in with 1 or 2 great.

It's a bit like saying we should keep Mingolet because he saves the odd penalty whilst ignoring the fact he lets in a huge % of on target shots.

Or we should keep Benteke because he scores the odd injury time penalty whilst ignoring his lack of movement and inability to convert chances in open play.

Fair point but what I'm trying to say is it's harsh to call his time here a disaster or "unbelievably ****" or whatever. There have been some good times, but clearly he's got to go.

You would have to say baring injury .. Marty will be on the bench for the rest of the season then most likely off, if he gets picked ahead of a fit Lovren there will be riots

I wouldn't even have him on the bench because that means he'll come on if we need a centre half at any point in a game. He should be out of the squad. Leave Kolo on the bench and Ilori if you want two.

Kolo should be starting based on form. Lovren has been good but Kolo has been even better

I think he's signalled pretty clearly that Mignolet is staying, even if most of us would prefer we got someone better. Kolo, Skrtel, and Benteke will all be gone, as will Moreno if we can find a buyer, but I'd be surprised if Allen or Mignolet went. Lovren too - turning into a decent player in the end. Henderson could well go though...
