Definately, the constant changes in defence are constantly baffling me.

Anybody who thinks Skrtel is good enough is clueless.
Since he signed in Jan 08 we've finished (full seasons only) 7th, 6th, 7th and 8th.

In that time not 1 club, anywhere in the world who play at a higher level i.e Champions League have come in for him.

That tells you 2 things -
1. He has been a regular feature in a LFC side that has performed consistently badly for 4 consecutive seasons.
2. If Skrtel had been a stand out performer, someone streets ahead of the rest of his team mates during those 4 years a better club would have bought him and he would have gone like a shot.

He isn't good enough, end of story.
The fact that Rodgers keeps picking him is baffling since he spent 6 months humiliating him (picking a retiring 34 year old ahead of him) and trying to sell him.

That is ridiculous Man City, Napoli and Zenit who all play CL have come in for him. And we have finished in those positions with Gerrard, Suarez, Johnson, Agger, etc. - Skrtel, though not playing half of last season like you just said, is probably the reason why we finished 8th last year too?

My feeling is that it was one of those games where it was hard to blame one player. The defensive system was just ill conceived. Lucas seemed to be tasked with filling in the gaps for both fullbacks to push on and the other two midfielders to have freedom which was pretty aggressive and I thought led to a shapeless midfield. That was made worse in defence as both Skrtel and Toure played too deep and too far to the right.

I tend to think that a big issue is the organization of our defence - the only times it has looked good has been when Gerrard and Lucas have been very deep and the back four pretty flat with Johnson the one most allowed to roam forward. That set up seemed to lack flexibility and be a poor base from which to attack (reminded me a bit of a Hodgson team). After the initial games we seem to have chopped and changed constantly and never really found a balance that works.

You honestly think Man City came in for him?
You must be on some form of medication, Napoli didn't come in for him it was lazy journalism linking him wit Rafa after we bought 2 centre backs and as for Zenit, they may well have done but they are the equivalent of Porto or Celtic


He's ****, as are most of our other players that fans think are loyal and amazing.

Mourinho has admitted to trying to sign Gerrard while at Madrid, well known that Suarez has had loads of interest and we could sell him easily if we wanted to.
You seem to think that Johnson and Agger are good enough as well???

For Agger see Skrtel, Agger lost us at least 3 games last season on lazy set piece marking alone and while Johnson is a good attacking right back he isn't worth buying because he's on 90k+ a week.

I don't think Skrtel is ****... in saying that i don't think he's amazing either. Has done well this season to be fair but would have no problem if we sold for decent money. IMO he'll be sold in January.

I think it is good possibility either him or Agger will be sold in January if we do receive fair offers.

Very true.

I've never been a big fan of Skrtel but bar the odd brain fart.. he's been impressive this season. Especially with the amount of times his CB partner has changed.
