Players like him have won things. He needs to be around the club because of it. Regardless of how you think he plays. He is a winner.
FA Cup: 2000–01, 2005–06
League Cup: 2000–01, 2002–03, 2011–12
FA Community Shield: 2001, 2006
UEFA Champions League: 2004–05
UEFA Cup: 2000–01
UEFA Super Cup: 2001, 2005
Look at his record. He deserves more than to be sent out to pasture.

Why? He didn't do it for free!
But I think his experience should count for something.

Why? We're not a charity. He's had ample reward for his excellent and loyal service. Look at Ferguson and the Mancs. Keane had a better CV and he, like many others, was ditched and they moved on. Carragher will be 35 next and he's no longer good enough. We can't afford passengers on £90k a week, that sort of money should be reserved for our top players, not for charitable hand outs to loyal veterans.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I think Carra have shown he is still decent backup to have around the team. He is no longer first choice and have accepted that well. He can still do the job in the odd game when the first choices need rest or get's injured. I see no point in shipping him out, plus he is a good role model for the local youngsters.

I just think Players like him can benefit youth a great deal. Just by being about and training with them. We have 4 young and potentially good defenders at the club. Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson and Coates will have learnt more off him about being a top level defender than most of the coaches.
Im not saying he should be a coach. But his experience is invaluable.
I also think he deserves more credit than he has gotten over the last 2-3 years for his performances. But thats another discussion.

Thank him for his service and let him have a couple of years at a club where he can play every week. Without meaning to sound disrespectful, he's a liability now and our performances are a lot worse with him in the team.

No room for sentiment.
Also I'd also be very surprised if Carra makes is as a successful manager or coach.
I honestly do not think he has been that poor this season when he has played, yes the odd error but then which CB hasn't made any errors? However, I hold my hands up to the fact that he is not going to get any better and on the kind of wages he is on it does look like that money could be better allocated. I hope when he does leave it is with dignity, although in the back of my mind I have a niggling suspicion he could end up across the park.

He's despised by some on here because the morons have it in their heads that he got Rafa sacked.
Good point. Still, our team is absolutely crying out for Aaron Hughes at the minute. Wouldn't you agree?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
