Got to say that the amount of stick Toure got last week completely pissed me off. He was good today and deserves some credit. Fella's won titles with Arsenal FFS and he's nowhere near as bad as what has been written on him.

He was good today yeah. He's absolutely our 4th choice CB though and I suppose with his experience you're not going to get that much of a better 4th choice.Originally posted by Nigey View PostGot to say that the amount of stick Toure got last week completely pissed me off. The personal abuse was out of order but otherwise he did deserve it to be fairOriginally posted by Nigey View PostGot to say that the amount of stick Toure got last week completely pissed me off. I am glad we did not sell. I said from the start his dip in form was just that, and that he could return to how he was a couple of years ago. I think he would be great alongside another defender who is powerful in the air, as I think that's his one area of weakness.
But he is on superb form just now. Wonderful goals. Does not score enough. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Reds boss believes the Slovakian is an example for others at Liverpool to follow
Brendan Rodgers believes Martin Skrtel is proving himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and says the Slovakian is an example for others to follow.
Skrtel had appeared to be out of favour at Anfield last season, and had been widely expected to leave Liverpool during the summer.
But having been brought back into the fold early in the campaign, the 29-year-old has been a virtual ever-present since. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions, and on Saturday scored twice in the Reds' 5-1 win over Arsenal.
Rodgers, speaking ahead of his side's trip to Fulham on Wednesday, said: “He looks a class act.
“It is big credit to him that he's been able to prove me right. I brought in a way I wanted to work, on the training field and in games, and for the second half of last season he didn't feature much.
“He had a choice, he could either throw the toys out the pram, or he could sit down with the manager and the coaching staff and see what areas he needed to improve.
“Now, you see a player with great intelligence in his defence, his use of the ball is composed and he has taken on a real leadership role. His performance levels, consistently, have been of a high level.
“He is up there with the top centre halves in this league, and I am delighted for him.”Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Great that Rodgers is singling Skrtel out.. he has been fantastic this season. Got bombed last season as he was poor but always felt it was treated slightly harsh. Credit to Skrtel & Rodgers as it has worked wonders.
He has been outstanding this season in a constantly changing & under performing back line. Deserves his place in the starting 11 and just a matter of Agger or Sahko beside him. Most likely Sakho IMO.
Having a ball playing CB like Agger is great but he really hasn't been great in recent times. Last season he was at fault for a hell of lot of goals. People seem to forgive and forget as a we all love a ball playing CB, which is rare. Agger is a good CB but can't see him being happy to be a bench warmer.
Personally i would have Skrtel & Sakho as our CB pairing. Skrtel has been our best defender by a long stretch and one of the best CB's in the league this season. And Sakho looked very promising before his injury.
Be interesting to see if Johnson & Agger will be still here come next season.Last edited by danperkins; 10-02-14, 06:32 PM.

Nothing to do with that really, more to do with the fact we are far better defensively when he plays which is reflected in the amount of clean sheets we get when he's in the team compared to when he's not. Constantly underrated. Last season he wasnt at his best but he's still quite clearly our best defender though Sakho may prove otherwise in time.Originally posted by danperkins View Post

5 clean sheets in 9 with him.
2 clean sheets in 16 without him.
