So why if Skrtel is such a liability as alot are saying.. why has this liability been voted by our fans across all our forums as our 3rd best player this season, ahead of Gerrard,Hendo & Sturridge who everyone has said have been fantastic this season?

Now considering our defence has been such a laughing stock & our attack has been one of the best in Europe... how if our defence has been so horrible can Skrtel (a defender) be voted by LFC fans as our 3rd best player ahead of several players that have supposedly had amazing seasons? Genuine question.

Must be doing something right? We simply do not have the right combination between the CB's, they will be so much more consistent with better full backs.

Looks like Johnson and Skrtel aren't favourites for some of us. We've missed out on the league, so people need to find players to blame. It's a natural thing to do. We can't win as a team and lose as a team. It's black and white.

Johnson voted worst performer along with Brad Jones!! Skrtel the 3rd best... ahead of Gerrard, Hendo, Sturridge etc & in a team that finished 2nd and only lost the title on the last day.

People have favorites .. Johnson & Agger do seem to have a fair few but i'm just stating the opinion of LFC supporters as a whole, judging by their votes for the whole season. I'm not suggesting this is gospel, but Morse's POTY does give us a good idea of the opinion of our fans.

The question still stands, how did this absolute liability get voted our 3rd best player?

This constant "He's 3rd in the MOTM table, proof he's amazing" stuff is bizarre. First off, you can have 10 great performances, 20 **** ones and be high up because of how the points work. Secondly, this apparently accurate table has Martin Skrtel ahead of Steven Gerrard and miles ahead of Daniel Sturridge and Aspas who started 5 league games above Flanno who started 23.

I'm going to dare to disagree with the table and say Skrtel hasn't had a better season than Steven Gerrard or Sturridge. Aspas and Victor Moses havent had better seasons than Flanno. Thirdly, this great MOTM table didnt seem to mean much last season when Perkins spent the summer slagging of Reina's season who come 4th in this incredibly accurate table or Kolo Toure earlier this season despite the fact he was 3rd in January but now it means everything. Hypocrisy and desperation, got to love it.

Skrtel is popular because he's committed, and has put in some strong performances this season. I personally happen think that at the he has some real deficiencies in his game too and makes too many errors. If looking to improve our first XI, which we should always be looking to do, his position would be one of those to look at.

Sorry but that's bollocks Nigey. It is nothing to do with blame, or to do with winning and losing. If we'd been out for a parade today discussions about improving our team next year would be just the same. Brendan said he wants us to "improve significantly" next year and will be looking for 4 or 5 first team players. Acting like every single one of our existing team, and especially the defensive unit, are perfect is not a very constructive attitude.

For me it is the way he plays he has an aggressive style of play which when it works gets noticed (hence motm awards) however when it doesn't it is likely to lead to mistakes and probably mistakes that cost goals.

Another issue is the team's attacking style of play, which doesn't help defensively, often we have situations where we are exposed, alot of men caught up field and having to defend 2 v 2 or 3 v 3 and i don't think our defenders are good in those situations

Yep basically he has some terrific games, but also has too many poor ones. The terrific games are obviously enough to position him high in that table, but with defenders you need consistency.
