Random this, but mate went to Everton night Joe Royle & Neville Southall at it last week. He was sitting with Southall & Southall said he thinks Lloris is the best keeper in the league... big fan of his.

Lloris makes some ridiculous saves & reminds me of Reina coming off his line.. acts like a sweeper. Although he has been done a few times doing that.

He does make howlers but his reading of the game is the best of any keeper in the league currently. He can be rash, but he can be taught to reign in his instincts at times.
      Are we winning?

skrtel often steps out to make an important block or interception. when it comes off he looks like a monster machine. when it doesnt

i notice johnson not closing down or out of position, then skrtel is then trying to make last ditch blocks. as skrtel steps out it leaves a big gap for the attacker to knock the ball into should skrtel miss it.

like i and others have said many times, agger is the best organiser, and in his absence skrtel gets suckered out of position by the piss poor play to his right.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Personally I don't think it's just down to the players I think it is partly the system, I think whoever we had back there would have had a difficult time because so often they are exposed. No matter how good Sami was he had alot of protection in the form of Didi Hamann.

For me the CBs don't suit the system either we need to get players who fit the system, or change the system to help the players we have

The system won't change and nor should it. Brendan spoke earlier in the season about the issues being down to players and not the system, said he couldn't coach the bad things out of the players. He spoke again before Newcastle and emphasised several times thats its down to concentration and decision making why we concede so many, especially away from home.Yet at the same time he said he wanted to improve our goals scored last season and did it,this pre season the focus will be on the goals against and improvng there.

I've only seen us linked with 1 CB and a couple of left backs so that conflicts for me because if we can't coach them and improve them we would should be shipping them out en masse and replacing them with better ones. The fact we haven't been linked with loads of defenders suggests that won't be the case. So I wonder what the plan is!

I'd suggest we'll bring in at least two defenders this Summer 1 CB and a fullback of some description i.e. not sure if LB, RB or could do either.

As you've mentioned I think it's the players that are making the individual errors and not really the system, it then gets compounded by there being little to no trust in each other to take command or do what needs doing hence the number of errors being made on an individual level.

Not sure I agree with that....it isn't the system that gave the ball away away to WBA when we were coasting...or the system that had Skrtel in no mans land for the third against Palace. There is many more but those are two that just stood out to me.

Yes there are individual errors and a lot of them, but players are more likely to make these types of errors if they are not suited to the system, the same players made less of these types of errors when playing in a different system.

As I said previously it leaves two options either change the system or sign players who are more suited to the system. As Rodgers doesn't want to change the system I guess we should be looking to sign new CBs in the summer.

Really wish LDP would lay the **** off Skrtel. Ok, you might not think he's up to the job for champions but he got us into second place. Show some respect.
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Owing to the system we're playing being a very good centreback isn't enough. We need to find a world class one. We don't offer the kind of protection that Terry and Cahill enjoy at Chelsea.

As harsh as that is on Skrtel we should look to upgrade him if possible.

You need only to look at those cunts up the road, haven't had a midfield for years yet score for fun and don't concede many, until this year that is! They had two excellent CB's in Ferdinand and Vidic who were able to cope.

"I have a cracked fibula of the left leg. Means that the next two to three weeks I have to indulge rest. Regret to me that I look like this early in the season, which I really enjoyed. However, I believe that after three weeks, I will definitely re- play, "said 29-year-old Martin Skrtel for the Saturday edition of the Sport.
