There was a moment when they hoofed it into the box, big Martin rose like a giant, mis timed his jump, ball bounced off the side of his head and went over the rest of our defence completely taking them all out of the game and straight to a QPR player on the 6 yard line who missed luckily. Comical. Even when Johnson assaulted the two lads on the goal line while making a last gap intervention Skrtel in his desperation to clear the ball completely scuffed it. Can't even put his boot through it. Comedy player.

He made a mistake for the first goal by losing the final duel, but nobody seems to be mentioning Gerrard silly foul, Sakho and Toure smashing into each other and Lucas not winning the header. And Gerrards hollywood ball for the second & Sakho actually not marking anyone as Bellamy pointed out.

It's not just Skrtel it's a comedy of errors. Their all ****e at the back.

It's blatantly obvious it's his fault for their 1st goal, gets caught ball watching, no awareness of Debuchy (he was marking him from the original ball in as well) and week as piss for the header.

Bellamy is talking bollocks for the 2nd goal, Toure is beyond the near post, Skrtel is all over the place positionally and Giroud is Skrtel's man.
If Sakho comes across as Bellamy said we have all 3 centre backs in front of our near post, which is just bonkers, Sakho is protecting the middle of the 6 yard box and has Welbeck coming in behind him.

It's not difficult to fathom, Skrtel is appalling.

Yep. Great header at the end, which makes his meek, ****house stuff in his own box all the more baffling. He seems to get excuse after excuse made for him "It's Mignolets fault" "It's Johnson's fault" "It's Gerrard's fault" (though Lovren, Toure and Sakho dont get defended with that for some reason) etc etc but nah, he's just not very good. Nothing to do with formations, nothing to do with who's next to him or behind him, he's just in his own little world. Pitiful for both of their goals, just stood and watched Giroud as he fired that one wide in the second half, the pointless hack on him by the corner flag after getting done in the first place by letting the ball bounce. It's just error after error with him and has been for years but he doesn't pick himself so it's on Brendan.

The only time we've looked competent defensively under Rodgers and got down to conceding under a goal a game has been with this fella out of the team 19 league games without him, just 14 conceded which is actually staggeringly good. Time to try it again but that goal has probably secured him for another 18 months.

Skrtel drives me nuts and was certainly culpable for the first and got caught a bit for the second however I think Gerrard needs to shoulder a fair bit of responsibility for the second goal, that Hollywood ball he tried gave them the break they needed

Sure it was a poor pass, but that is no excuse for 4 LFC players standing in the area only having Giroud to mark and failing. It's incredibly poor, and especially Skrtel just standing at the first post looking

First rule of defence, try to read where the ball will be played, i.e. where is the opposition player? All he had to do was see Giroud try the old in and out movement (not even that really) and step into the path between him and Cazorla.

There were clearly no other Arsenal players around him or even threatening the goal (Toure/Sakho had them well covered). Defending is so easy, you need some common sense that's all.
